Bomberman '93
Reader Rating:

A Hudson original and one of the better early iterations of the popular franchise, Bomberman '93 boasts a number of gameplay modes, including a super-frantic 5 player mode that can be played using a combination of Wii and GameCube controllers. The single player mode is typical Bomberman fare - just clear the areas of all enemies, but the main star here is its Battle Mode, which makes for a stellar party game. Bomberman '93 contains the classic formula that bits each player's wits against eachother in an attempt to see who can explode who the quickest, and all the power-ups you've come to know and love are present. There are also a number of stages that you can't find in any other version of Bomberman, each with their own gimmicks, which provide fun new ways to blow things up.
The game's main drawback is its dull single-player mode, so it's yet another Virtual Console game that demands the player to get some friends. But Bomberman is Bomberman, and fans will likely get a kick out of seeing its familiar style.
Legacy...
Yet another Virtual Console game that only exists as a hard copy of the original otherwise. There are tons of other great versions of Bomberman that exist, but for 600 points it's difficult to refuse one of the greatest multiplayer games available in the Wii Shop. Now, if you want something really crazy, get yourself a Saturn, some multitaps, ten controllers, and a copy of Saturn Bomberman...Reader Reviews
