Podcast 42 - Top of the Queue: Hulk vs. and Planet Hulk

This week, we talk up the Hulk's animated features on Netflix Instant Streaming, the Hulk vs. double-featuring with Thor and Wolverine stories and Planet Hulk. Frankie calls in to talk up his impressions of last weekend's Diablo III beta, and we wonder whether the New Super Mario Bros. series is a license to print money or if Nintendo faithful should expect better.

REVIEW - The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Posted November 29th 2011 by Adam Grayson.

Can you believe it's been five years since the Wii first came out?  Five years since Nintendo was unanimously agreed to be in last place in the console race?  Five years since motion controls were considered a failure waiting to happen?  Five years since all of those Wii sexual innuendos?  Can you believe it's been five years since the last console Zelda game?  What in the wide world of video gaming has Nintendo been doing these past five years?  Well, in addition to enjoying the unexpectedly explosive success of their "subpar" home console, they've been working harder than they ever have to create not only the best Wii game ever, but perhaps, the best Zelda game ever.  With the Wii U, Nintendo's next home console, hitting shelves sometime next year, Nintendo wanted The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword to be their swan song to the Wii.  Ladies and gentlemen, they succeeded.  If you read nothing else in this review, read this: get this game.

Is Skyward Sword Really the First Zelda Game?

Posted October 5th 2011 by Adam Grayson.

With the imminent release of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, fans are beginning to get a little rabid about the game (myself included).  To make matters harder on the (not so) patient Zelda fanatics, Nintendo has been releasing a lot of information about the game as of late, and as more and more members of the gaming press get their excited hands on it, details about Skyward Sword have been spreading around the Internet like a virus.  Due to this, gamers have been sharing rumors and theories about the game, hoping to find the cure to their burning curiosity.  With fans clinging to every word uttered about the game and meticulously trying to make sense of them, isn't it about time we do the same?

We've been told over and over by Nintendo, Miyamoto, and Aonuma that Skyward Sword is the first game in the Legend of Zelda timeline, but is it really the first in the timeline?  Surely we cannot argue with what the creators of the series are saying.  If they say it's the first, then by golly it is!  However, while it may be the first of the games so far, is it actually the game that will have no prequels?  Is Skyward Sword the originator of the legend of Zelda?

Skyward Sword Box Art and Bundle Go Gold

Posted August 29th 2011 by Adam Grayson.

Earlier this year at E3, Nintendo revealed to us Zelda fans that, as a part of the series' 25th Year Anniversary celebration, there would be two retail copies of Skyward Sword.  One copy would just be the boring old game by itself while the other would be a rocking golden bundle of goodness complete with a golden Wii Remote Plus and a 25th Anniverstary soundtrack.

Skyward Sword: Where is Ganon?

Posted July 25th 2011 by Anthony DiPalma.

Every Legend of Zelda fan knows the basic setup behind the legendary series. Link, the young hero clad in green tunic sets out on a quest to find the Master Sword, save Princess Zelda, and slay the evil Ganon. This time around, Producer Eiji Aonuma tells us that Skyward Sword will be a different tale... One without the star villain fans have come to love.

3DS REVIEW - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

Posted July 5th 2011 by Adam Grayson.

What makes the best things in life better?  Adding another dimension, obviously.  Fact: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the best thing since sliced bread -- heck, it's better than sliced bread.  However, this game came out in 1998 and has had more than its share of reviews, criticisms, theories, and even reevaluations.  Therefore, there shall be no story, no complaining about Navi, no talk of vast emptiness, and no timeline discussed in this review.  Do you hear me? None (for the record though, there is a timeline, and Navi loves you no matter how much you hate her)! What I will talk about are the differences between Ocarina of Time 3D and the original Nintendo 64 version (as well as the GameCube and Wii ports).  I will talk about why you should drop whatever you're doing (except reading this review... finish that...) and go buy this game.  And I will explain to you why The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is even better than sliced bread with butter!
