FEATURE - A Day in Skyrim

Posted November 14th 2011 by Anthony DiPalma.

Unless you've lived under a rock for the past 9 months, you've undoubtedly heard of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The newest installment to the acclaimed Elder Scrolls series is said to be bigger and better than its predecessor, Oblivion, a game that had over 100 hours of gameplay by itself. Gamers know that Bethesda puts a ton of time and energy into making their games the best they can be, and Skyrim is no exception. As fans of the series, Frankie & I decided to team up and see if Bethesda stayed true to their motto of "you are what you play." We wanted to know if, given our different styles of playing, Bethesda could create a different experience for everyone. We spent a few early hours in Skyrim wondering if we'd leave with a bad taste in our mouths or if we'd be craving for more.

XBOX 360 REVIEW - Sonic Generations

Posted November 10th 2011 by Adam Grayson.

Oh, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic... How long has it been since you had a good game? I suppose that answer will vary depending on how much individual Sonic fans are willing to forgive, but the general consensus is that it's been far too long. I myself am a huge Sonic fan despite being a die-hard Nintendo fanboy. While other kids were reading comics about some lame guys in tights called Superman, Batman, and Spider-Man, I was busy reading up on the blue rodent with an attitude and an appetite for chili dogs. Despite my love for Sonic, playing Sonic and the Secret Rings for the Wii felt like each member of Sonic Team coming up to me one by one and slapping me in the face and spitting in my eye. Needless to say, that game completely turned me off of the franchise I once adored (at the time I didn't have a 360 or PS3 for that Sonic the Hedgehog to do it for me). Praise the gaming gods for Sonic Generations! Ever since its first trailer, the game has looked great, but fans (myself included) remained understandably skeptical. Now that the game is out, and I've spent countless hours with it, I am very pleased to say that Sonic Generations broke the curse of the Sonic Cycle and is the best Sonic game I have played in a long time.

Skyrim -Thar Be Dragons!

Posted June 10th 2011 by Anthony DiPalma.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has dragons. Lots of them. No matter where, when, or how you grew up, it was always a common childhood fantasy to slay a dragon. If you weren't dreaming of slaying a dragon or training to become a Super Saiyan, then you were probably playing with an Easy-Bake Oven and have moved on to playing Cooking Mama. As for boys who would later become men, Bethesda's newest little bundle of joy promises to fulfill these testosterone infused fantasies of dragon slaying. An entirely new world built an an entirely new engine, along with vast gameplay improvements makes Skyrim an experience to look forward to. Also, did I mention Skyrim has dragons?

Gears of War 3 is a Dirty, Dirty, Horde

Posted June 8th 2011 by Anthony DiPalma.

Since the release of the first title in the Gears of War series, the developers at Epic have been known to showcase extreme violence and gore in creative and sadistic ways. Gears of War 3, the upcoming title that will bring closure to the stories of Marcus and his COG brothers, promises to up the ante and make virtually everything even bigger than before - no easy task for a game that had players chainsaw their way out of a giant worm.

Updated: SEGA Announces new Alien VS Predator

Posted February 11th 2009 by Curtis Brunet.

SEGA is bringing back a classic with the announcement that a new entry in the Alien Versus Predator series is on the way. Developer Rebellion Developments - creators of the original Alien VS Predator and who most recently worked on the Playstation 2 ports of World At War and The Simpsons Game - will be handling the development duties. The game is set for a tentative 2010 release, but if Colonial Marines is teaching us anything, it's that release dates by SEGA really are more of a basic guideline. Better to say it will be released before Duke Nukem Forever and leave it at that. Though no systems were detailed, it is safe to assume we would see an Xbox, Playstation, and PC release.

In the press release, CEO of SEGA West Naoya Tsurumi added that "by adjusting the release date of our other Aliens titles to accomodate it, SEGA will ensure that every title lives up to the high expectations of Aliens and AvP fans". Wait, is this just their way of announcing that Colonial Marines is delayed again?

Update: Full press release available after the break.
