TUTORIAL - How to Get Your Nintendo 3DS 3D Video to YouTube and Display PROPERLY in 3D

Posted December 24th 2011 by Adam Grayson.

One of the 3DS' coolest new features added by the recent update is the ability to take 3D video. Now watching these videos in 3D on the 3DS is pretty neat, but don't you want to share your ridiculous 3D antics with the world? I know I do. What better way to do that than uploading your videos to YouTube? Yes, YouTube does in fact support 3D video. Unfortunately, it's surprisingly difficult and complicated to get your 3DS videos to display properly in 3D once uploaded to YouTube. It certainly isn't as simple as uploading the file to YouTube from the SD card. If you try, it will not work. Hopefully sometime in the future, it will be much easier to get our 3D cat videos onto YouTube. Until that time comes, we've got this handy-dandy tutorial for you!

Red Dead Redemption Trailer Is Awesome

Posted May 7th 2009 by Derrick Lutz.

There's a serious lack of games set in the old west. Rockstar is set to improve that situation with Red Dead Redemption, due for release later this Fall on Xbox 360 and PS3. Check out the first trailer after the break.

Video Tour of id Software

Posted April 6th 2009 by Derrick Lutz.

John Romero found an old VHS tape with a video tour of id Software's studio from 1993, when they were still working on the first Doom game. Not only do you get loads of rockin' 90s hair styles, it's an interesting look back at a time when game development worked on a much smaller scale. It's also a reminder of how much we take for granted now and how games in that time period relied a lot on our imaginations to make the game world come alive.

Some of my favorite moments: John Romero playing an early build of Doom, making a big deal out of the sprite-based enemies moving back a few pixels when he shoots them; the music guy explaining how the various MIDI sounds are supposed to represent voices and story; bunch of dudes sitting around playing Aladdin on the Genesis; just generally everybody in awe of the now-primitive graphics and gameplay mechanics. It's a fun watch, check it out after the break.

First Mass Effect 2 Teaser

Posted February 21st 2009 by Derrick Lutz.

If you're anything like me, usually when you watch a teaser your eyes just kind of gloss over because nothing of interest is happening and you find something better to do after 30 seconds. That happened when I watched this Mass Effect 2 teaser earlier this evening, but then someone brought it to my attention that it says Shepard, your character from the first game, was killed in action. Also there's a Geth (the enemies from the first game) robot dude with a N7 logo (N7 being the special forces program Shepard was a part of). So those are some pretty big story elements being teased.

Check it out after the break if you feel like having that whole eyes-gloss-over thing happen.

Battlefield 1943 and Bad Company 2 Announced

Posted February 5th 2009 by Derrick Lutz.

Battlefield 1943 If you're a fan of the Battlefield series, you've got plenty to look forward to. Electronic Arts announced sequels to last year's Bad Company and the classic PC game Battlefield 1942. There's not a lot of details on either game at the moment, but interestingly, 1943 will ship with only three maps and will be released on Xbox Live Arcade and PSN in addition to the PC. This small scale should be a nice middle ground between the free-to-play casual-gamer-oriented Battlefield Heroes and the full price retail Bad Company 2. Speaking of Heroes, the free-to-play micro-transaction ad-supported browser-based hyphenated-descriptions PC game is planned for public release sometime before April. Check out the trailer for 1943 after the break.
