This past weekend the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier multiplayer beta went live. More than a few Ubisoft fans were treated to a chance to preview the latest installment of what can be seen as one of the godfathers of modern online multiplayer. The practice of releasing multiplayer betas has become increasingly in vogue due to the popularity and importance placed on a solid multiplayer presence in any game with a gun. Unfortunately, when you throw the word beta around, there's bound to be technical hiccups, but the hint of what could be was interesting enough.
ModNation Racers, for those of you that don't know, is essentially a modern take on kart racing. Sure you'll do a lot of racing around built-in tracks, but there's plenty of additions to the game that make it stand out. Not only are you able to create your own custom racers and karts, but you're also able to create your own tracks using the incredibly simple and intuitive track editor. Hopefully that'll be enough to keep the potential online community hooked, because without other players, ModNation Racers could end up quite shallow.
MAG, Zipper's massive 256 player online game, has a release date. It'll come to North American hands on January 26, 2010. In the meantime, you can always hope to be in the beta. E3 trailer after the break.
