3DS Firmware Update 4.0.0-7

Posted April 25th 2012 by Adam Grayson.

A few days ago during Nintendo's newest Japanese Nintendo Direct news feed, company President, Satoru Iwata, announced a new 3DS firmware update (along with many other announcements) that would allow players to create folders on the 3DS' HOME Menu. That update released early this morning and has likely already helped many 3DS owners clean up their cluttered HOME Menus. It's fast and simple to create the folders, but a little more could be added to make the organization experience easier.

REVIEW - Kid Icarus: Uprising

Posted April 11th 2012 by Adam Grayson.

Kid Icarus: Uprising

"Sorry to keep you waiting!" It's been 21 years since the last Kid Icarus game came out on the Game Boy and 25 years since the original on the NES. Kid Icarus: Uprising on the Nintendo 3DS is a triumphant return of the classic Nintendo franchise. I suppose "rebirth" would be more appropriate than "return" in this case since the only two things Kid Icarus: Uprising has in common with its predecessors are the characters and the fact that you shoot enemies. Masahiro Sakurai, most recently known for his work on Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and his team at Project Sora really created a fantastic game here, folks. The graphics, the music, the gameplay, the sheer amount of content, and the overall quality of the game is truly worthy of admiration.

The Fandom's Menace

Posted February 9th 2012 by Frankie Aguilar.

The Fandom Menace

It's difficult to get a grasp on the cavalcade of emotions that I feel for a man I've never met. George Lucas single-handedly defined my childhood rise to geekdom and has since set out to destroy the mental shrine I've built to him. Lucas is a name that is still championed by so many, but is so loudly and histrionically vilified that you'd think he was a terrorist leader. So the folks that wish the plaid-shirted, bespectacled dictator would just end his film making career will be happy to know that after his latest film, Red Tails, he'll be riding off into the binary sunset, probably on a Dewback, towards the land of independent personal films. But not before one last twist of the Prequel-poisoned Star Wars dagger in the back of fans. That's right people, Lucas is bringing back every single movie from the series, starting with The Phantom Menace, in gloriously unnecessary 3D. And every movie ticket comes with a pack a cyanide-laced Twizzlers to enhance your 3D movie experience.

TUTORIAL - How to Get Your Nintendo 3DS 3D Video to YouTube and Display PROPERLY in 3D

Posted December 24th 2011 by Adam Grayson.

One of the 3DS' coolest new features added by the recent update is the ability to take 3D video. Now watching these videos in 3D on the 3DS is pretty neat, but don't you want to share your ridiculous 3D antics with the world? I know I do. What better way to do that than uploading your videos to YouTube? Yes, YouTube does in fact support 3D video. Unfortunately, it's surprisingly difficult and complicated to get your 3DS videos to display properly in 3D once uploaded to YouTube. It certainly isn't as simple as uploading the file to YouTube from the SD card. If you try, it will not work. Hopefully sometime in the future, it will be much easier to get our 3D cat videos onto YouTube. Until that time comes, we've got this handy-dandy tutorial for you!

3DS Update Brings New Features

Posted December 20th 2011 by Adam Grayson.

The big Nintendo 3DS update announced back in October is finally here. The update has been available for almost two weeks now, so I won't go into excruciating detail about the new features; I'll just give a brief overview of them. But if you haven't already downloaded the update, all you need to do is connect your 3DS to a wireless signal and follow these instructions. It brings a lot of cool new features to the 3DS, and it's free!

REVIEW - Super Mario 3D Land

Posted December 13th 2011 by Adam Grayson.

Don't you miss the days when a Mario game releasing with the launch of a Nintendo console was a given? Yeah, me too. The Nintendo 3DS launched nearly nine months ago now, and gamers have been wondering where all of the "good" games are. Thankfully, it's the holiday season, and Nintendo has finally started giving 3DS owners the games they've been waiting for. Super Mario 3D Land is one of those games, but was it worth the wait? Yeah, I'd say so.

3DS REVIEW - Star Fox 64 3D

Posted September 17th 2011 by Adam Grayson.

Ah... Good ole Star Fox. Ever since its debut back in 1993, the series has put players in control of furry pilot Fox McCloud and his crew of space animal pals. Four years later, Star Fox 64 was released on the Nintendo 64 and has since become widely regarded as the best game of the series. For more than a decade, gamers have been clamoring for another Star Fox game that plays and feels as good as Star Fox 64. While the GameCube and Nintendo DS sequels were fun in their own rights, they just weren't quite what fans were looking for. That said, what better way to give the fans what they want than a 3D remake of the series' best? While the bulk of Star Fox 64 3D is taken straight from the Nintendo 64 original, Nintendo EAD and co-developer Q-games (who also made Star Fox Command for the Nintendo DS) made sure to stuff a whole slew of new features into this Nintendo 3DS remake such as updated graphics, updated controls, updated voice overs, and a brand new multiplayer experience. Oh yeah, and it's in 3D.
