PSP: new RPG announcement
The article's here.

IGN

Sony today announced Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade, an RPG title being developed in-house at Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) -- and one of the original PSP titles developed in North America. Untold Legends is slated as a launch title for the PSP's North American debut.

The game will feature classic hack-'n'-slash action in randomly generated, 3D environments. Untold Legends will also include cooperative play over the PSP's wireless connection.

Your quest is to save Aven, a city which stands as the last bastion of Good in a world dominated by Evil. You are part of the Brotherhood of the Blade, a team of heroes determined to stop the rise of dark forces. Choose from one of four classes: Knights, Alchemists, Druids, and Berserkers. You'll face more than 100 different monsters, including giant boss battles.

"We have assembled a top-notch development team that has worked hard to develop a completely original title for the PSP handheld system," said John Smedley, president, Sony Online Entertainment. "The dev team has tailored every feature such as the wireless multiplayer gameplay, stunning 3D graphics, and the entertaining Action RPG gameplay specifically for the PSP handheld system, and the results are absolutely spectacular. We strongly believe that Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade has what it takes to be a huge success on the PSP handheld system."

Of course, we'll have plenty more on Legends as new details emerge. Keep your blades ready.

That's rather amusingly generic. Can they make a game worse than Beyond the Beyond? Only time will tell.

I hate those most.

Wireless multi could be fun though.

I played this game on the Gameboy when it was called Gauntlet.

The problem I see with PSP games right now is that if the ideas are any good, they'll port them over to the PS2 for a MUCH MUCH MUCH bigger userbase. And at the same time - games that exist on both the PSP and the PS2 will be better on the PS2.

If the gameplay isn't as cheesy as the plot might suggest, then I might consider getting this one.

Looks acceptablely good, I still think the PSP's graphic ability will not be beyond PS2's after playing Ridge Racers... maybe only because of the battery after looking at the stats, but oh well.

The graphics rival those of Doom 3. Look at that monster in the corner. Looks familiar, doesn't it? Kind of? Game of the year.

Why even bother posting a thread on every new game that comes out for the PSP? Blech.

you guys do the same for every DS game so why cant we post about psp games?

and I guess the point of this thread was to diss the psp as I see from you user in here.

and the game does look good. it kinda reminds me of champions of norrath.

Daylahs, it looks like a PSOne game. You can't be serious. I like the PSP and all but this game oozes mediocre juice.

the game looks good for a handheld. The psone games were not ugly neither were the nintendo 64 games yet you guys fall head over heels on those games on the DS. This game looks to be great and I'm quite sure it'll play like baldurs gate.

The baldur's gate's on consoles sucked balls gameplay-wise. They were great on PC however.

Why are people talking about the graphics? From last I've seen they are still better than the DS's regardless if they don't look PSP quality. I own a DS and love it but I don't ever talk about the graphics because that isn't what a game is about. I know we are in a new generation where graphics are important but gameplay beats graphics any day. So before anybody talks trash about the screens maybe they should learn about the game mechanics first. Yes I am a Nintendo fan and don't like the PS nearly as much.

I only talked about the graphics because it was one of the only things TO comment on. Since its early in development, I think they should change the view, I wouldn't like to not be able to see ahead at all.

The camera doesnt' play like this the whole game. The camera can zoom out much further. And Buzzjive, maybe if you were intelligent enough to read about something before commenting, you would understand that this isn't another gauntlet. It's much deeper and has alot more to it than running around pressing A the whole game. As to the screenshots of the game, they really don't do it justice. I've watched the trailer for it and it looks pretty good. Why don't u guys check it out http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=1432

You'll get lot's of spell's if your a spell caster, you'll get lot's of different melee attacks if your a knight, theres all sorts of weapons and armors you'll be able to use for different situations and to just generally make you stronger. You can also use pets, I think that would add alot to the gameplay. PLus the game will probaly play kinda like Phantasy Star Online (GCN) and
Champions of Norrath (PS2).

Seeing this just makes me imagine what a Diablo2 would be like on the DS. I know its really off topic, but I think its certainly possible, especally if it goes online.

I was refferencing PSO because it too was 4 player R.P.G to where you got new spells and such, and because some people may be familiar with that game on a Nintendo website than they would Champions of Norrath.

I was refering to PSO because their is probaly alot more people who have played a GCN game on a Nintendo board than people who have played a PS2 game. I shouldn't have said play like PSO I meant it would be similar in the way that you get all sorts of armor and weapons in PSO.
