Daisy... what's up with her?

Lately, Nintendo uses Daisy in EVERY Mario game. Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, Mario Kart, Mario Party to mention but a few. This has been bothering me. Her only REAL appearance was in Super Mario Land. Why are they doing this? Her voice is annoying, her appearance is annoying, her sole existance is annoying. Where does she stick?

Well, couldn't you say the same for Waluigi too? I don't remember EVEN seeing him and any major Mario games besides the side ones like you have mentioned so far.

Oh god.... Out of all the freaking characters or enemies or bosses Nintendo could be using in their spinoff Mario games, they pick Petey friggin Piranha. He was a boring boss in SMS, why the hell does he deserve to be in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and now Mario Tennis? Ugh...

Anyways, you could say the same thing about Birdo, Koopa Troopa, or Waluigi. They are all either minor characters or have been in only a few (or no) real games. But, Nintendo needs characters, so they slap them in.

I was just super pissed when I found out the last two secret characters I needed in Double Dash were King Boo and Petey Piranha. Nobody who I've ever played in that game has used them. Toad and Toadette? Aha, now they are cool. Even though Toadette probably took them 3 minutes to realize and then design, her and Toad are great, and became my only used characters. But Petery Piranha and King Boo? Lame....

toadette, pette petey piranha, waluigi, daisy, and kind boo are definately lame. koopa troopa and para troopa are legit IMO, as they are enemies in many a mario title. but personally, i would rather see a goomba than daisy, or toadette. birdo, i am kinda on the fence with, seeing as how he really isn't even in a mario game (since i don't consider mario 2 a mario game). but he/she's alright i guess. even a regular boo woulda been better than king boo...i don't know who they could use, i don't wannt think about it right now, but there are definately some crappy ones in these mario spin-offs nowadays.

Come on, Koopa Troopa has been around the longest, don't even think about bashing him. Sure Daisy is worthless but at least she was actually featured in a game (Super Mario Land) unlike a few others like Waluigi and Toadette.

Daisy is popping up for a very simple reason. Nintendo has a dearth of female characters. In the mario universe, what established female characters are there other than Peach? Pauline? I think Birdo has made the transition to female character rather than cross dressing dino thing, so I guess you could count that too. But other than that, there really aren't any.

The new characters are made so there's partners, obviously. Waluigi to Wario. Daisy to Peach. Toadette to Toad.

Man Having a normal Boo instead a big king boo woulda been better, just becasue you see more normal boos than king boo. They should've had pualine and niel in MK DD instead or in Tennis, I mean they golf, but who says they can't drive or play a little on the side.

I don't mind Daisy but waluluigi I hate. It's because they want partners for each character but seriously. He's just annoying and there for absoulutely nothing.

I don't think Daisy's voice is too high. You can easily compare in MK Big Grin

D, since both girls say "Good choice" when you choose them. Daisy's voice sounds normal, then suddenly Peach's is four thousand octaves higher, cracking my TV screen and causing my ears to bleed.

I HATE Peach's new voice. If she still had that one that Swan chick gave to her at the beginning of Super Mario 64, then most definitly would I stick with her. However, they've started changing Daisy into an albino chunker so she's slowly declining too.

I'd like to know who on this planet actually has the vocal capacity to speak that high for Peach. I mean sometimes singers can hit a really high note, but to keep that note and form complex words out of that sound has got to be tough.

It's weird, the voice for Peach in Mario 64 was a person who usually does localization, works at Nintendo Power, and wrote the manual. You can tell Nintendo provides only the highest levels of production value for its products.

You are about the only one I completely agree with. I have nothing against most of the side-characters. They are all quite loveable. But the first time when I saw Waluigi (N64 Mario Tennis??) I was really like "that was just a lame attempt at getting a new character in the game".

Advance, what do you mean Peach's the clone? I thought Daisy appeared in Super Mario Land and Peach in Super Mario Bros!

I'm okay with adding Petey Piranha and King Boo cause they appeared in the Gamecube era and are new to the Mario universe. They can't rely only on NES characters, besides Petey was a great boss to fight in SMS.

The only character I didn't want them to add was Diddy, basically because he never met Mario and doesn't belong to his universe, but that's just my totally nerdish side and I'm in fact okay with him too.

I'd like to see Shyguy the most next time. Shyguy's cool and could team with a Boo, Koopa Troppa or Lakitu.

Your thinking of Pauline from Donkey Kong, who later evolved into Princess Peach, who first appeared in 1985 in Super Mario Bros.. Daisy has only had two roles, the Princess to be rescued from Super Mario Land, and she also appeared in the Super Mario Bros. movie which Peach did not make an appearance in. So no, Daisy is still the clone of Peach.

Ye must not read EGM. In their 'Afterthoughts' for Super Mario Sunshine a month or so after the games release, they had a little sidebar telling that the woman who does the voice of Princess Peach in the game, named Jen Taylor, also does the voice of Cortana from Halo. If you've played Halo, you'll notice that the voices sound completely different. That leads me to believe that Jen Taylor does the Peach voice as best as possible, and then they run it through a computer and edit it to make it more high pitch, similar to what they do on various cartoons like South Park. People who do voices aren't neccesarily doing the voice you hear, many times they are edited to become exactly what they want to hear. Like, if you hear Cartman's voice (either Matt or Trey does the voice) before editing, it sounds a lot different. It really just sounds whiny and as if he has a retainer in his mouth, but then through editing it sounds a bit more normal.

Daisy's ok. I can see her being a major contributor ( I e trophy) fro Luigi in his next solo adventure. Or perhaps her and Peach in a new coop mario game. eventually...

The reason her voice got so high is because me and Freako were playing MK64 and he said, "Peach sounds like a guy." But I regret it, man. But what happened to Wart? But what happened to K. ROOL? But what happened to Kamek? But what happened to the 7 koopa kids? But what happened to Jr. Troopa? But what happened to the Koopa Bros.? I mean they got out of that dungeon and I didn't see them again.
