Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem Trailer http://media.movies.ign.com/media/746/746237/vids_1.htmlThis trailer alone is better than all of the previous film. Pretty funny how they're going out of their way to show that this is a hardcore R-rated film from the start; a total 180 from their previous stance on marketing this franchise. The fan backlash must have been bigger than I thought. +They got the Predator's look right finally. The retarded looking, and overly bulky Preds in the last film made me want to stab my eyes out. +Aliens are back to their look in Aliens. They're even using the sound fx from that film as well. Total fan service. +Lots of awesome kills, half of which will probably be trimmed out in the theatrical release. The uncut DVD/hi-def release will be awesome. -Why the fuck are we still on Earth? -Christmas? Really? You really think it'll do well during Christmas, Fox? -Where's my Predator 3, and Alien 5? |

Holy crap! More gore than I expected and ITS A BOUT TIME the predators show some backbone. I thought it was extremely gay that one alien out of hundreds killed 2 predators in the last film. Looks kick ass, a real battle. ___________________

I never really understood all the hate for AvP. Yes, it could have been much better, but it was a hundred times better than either Predator 2 or Alien 3/4. |

I personally didn't hate AvP, it was ok but definitely not 'awesome'. Like most people, I mainly saw it as a tragically gimped, wasted opportunity to make the film that AvP2 has the potential to be. ___________________ |

Well the Predators were always about honour and only hunting worthy prey. Allying with the woman out of respect for her ability to fight wasn't too out of character. They did it with Danny Glover in Predator 2. Plus the Predator / Alien fight scenes were just the coolest damn thing in the universe. |

Also, I hate how they seem to have a feminine hero who resembles Sigourney Weaver as Ripley, just for the sake of having a female hero. I don't understand why it is so common for movies in series to attempt that. |

AvP was pretty good, I enjoyed it enough to see a second. Plus, if the TRAILER is rated R, that definitely helps make a bit of an apology for wetting down the first one. The most important question is, though: is Paul Anderson still directing? I haven't heard yet. I hope not. EDIT: After watching the trailer, I just want to say, it DOES look better than the first, but seriously, I could stand to see a little more action/atmosphere than just lots of people dying. Good that they're not pulling punches though. |

Anyone who watched the AvP:R trailer and was not expecting a slaughterfest and/or was not impressed by the slaughterfest in which was entailed simply should not watch the movie that will be an awesome slaughterfest of mindless gore and violence. Eh, way too much mindless gore. Alien was scary because of atmosphere and a really creepy design. Predator was great because it was a fresh take on extraterrestrials and Arnold is awesome. These alien designs looked like a step down to me. Cheap and plasticy, albeit closer to Aliens, and I suppose not quite slimy enough. The only good point of AVP was that the predators did not dominate. It looks like only one alien gets a lucky shot in this movie. Pshhhh |

It may seem excessive, and to some people it may come off as trying too hard to be mature, especially given how mild the first avp was. But that isn't the case for Aliens I think. You bring out that whole relentless/merciless aspect of them with that level of violence/gore. Take the whole concept of chestbursters for example. That's also a part of why avp felt seriously dumbed down. The only problem might be that when you put that in a trailer you kind of already know who's going to die, making way for spoilers...assuming anyone cares about the human characters. |
