What's unique to your location?
After being away to college I've found that a lot of things are unique to my area. Have any of you guys heard of or eaten Tomato Pie? Dough, Sauce, Romano Cheese. Very tasty.

Half Moon Cakes?

Chicken Riggies?

I have potato bread.

Some people have confused tomato pie for pizza that has the cheese under the sauce. That's just proper Sicilian pizza, I believe.

So is this like food only, or what? We didn't really come up with anything, but we do have Niagara Falls, that's always pretty neat.

Well we got the Cavs, Indians and Browns. Who have never won a championship, so I guess thats opposite of your town.

We have the polluted Lake Erie, thats pretty cool. As far as food goes, can't really think of any specific to the cleveland area.

No wait, I know something that is entirely unique to my area. Believe it or not we eat fried chicken. It's so popular here we have our own fast food chain.

This:

is a bolus, a pastry made from a trail of bread-dough, rolled up and than sugar-sirop and cinammon are added and is then baked so the cinammon and sirup caramalize.

It looks like ++++ (literally), but it tastes great.

It's a local pastry of the province Zeeland in the Netherlands.

Clamato can be found in most larger grocery stores. At least I remember seeing it back in Chicago a lot.

As for unique to Gainesville... hmm. Jared already covered the sports aspect, which is kinda cool.

Um... Gainesville was pretty well known in the 60s and 70s for the Gainesville Green, a strain of marijuana that was so popular that when we went to San Diego last summer, our cab driver asked about it upon hearing that's where we were from.

Oh and there's a pretty large homeless population due to the climate and the willingness of overly liberal college kids to give them mommy and daddy's money. Seriously, it's not like just homeless people you see in major cities, it's like clean cut, able bodied adults that could go do day labor if they wanted to.

Oh yeah, Gatorade was invented here. So I guess that's neat, although the only kind of Gatorade I like is Rain.

Oh and another thing, Gainesville has a pretty large punk/ska community. There's always a ton of shows happening on any given night.

Oh and don't forget the serial killer Ted Bundy and that one guy who got executed recently. Both killed lots of girls here.
