And ever will my love for you keep growing strong

I Love Nintendo

Oh Nintendo, my love for thee knows no bounds,
As your creations never fail to bring me bliss.
Your latest and greatest games I will not miss,
As I'm addicted to your software which is most profound.

I am curious as to how your output never falls short,
As your games always leave me with a feeling of glee.
How I hope that the august Mr. Miyamoto never flees,
For if he did I may just be inclined to drop support.

I jest, for I could never bring myself to abandon you.
I could never pledge my undying allegiance to another,
For there's no substitute for Mario, Link, or Donkey Kong.

Nintendo thou art righteous, phony art every other.
As I think back about all the things we have been through,
I don't see how this love I have for you could ever be wrong.

Many years ago, on a seemingly routine day—which retrospectively turned out to be anything but routine—an occurrence that would perpetually and dramatically change the course of my admittedly monotonous existence came to pass. It all began innocently enough: Upon configuring my newly purchased Super Nintendo console with my television, I evenly positioned myself upon my favorite oversized sac to play a game called Super Mario World; little did I know that this simple act would lead to a dominating addiction the likes of which I had never previously known. To be sure, after playing through a number of the imaginative and challenging levels to be traversed in Mario's then latest adventure, I quickly lost track of time. Thirty minutes turned to an hour, one hour to two; when all was said and done, I had joyfully engaged in playing Nintendo's now venerated classic for a solid 5 hours! I recall thinking, "can this truly be?" It most certainly was—I had become a Nintendo devotee at that point and forevermore would this be so. There was simply no going back to the banality of reality for I had taken to Nintendo's glorious virtual worlds like a politician to corruption. And while there would be moments of weakness in my otherwise Nintendo-dominated gamer existence, such as when I purchased non-Nintendo consoles like the Sega Saturn and Sony Playstation, my one and true love would always and forever remain Nintendo.

It almost pains me to reminisce of those simpler times for all was right with the world then, at least in my view. Nintendo had just bestowed the gaming world with what would become one of the most influential and earth-shattering videogame consoles of all time in the Super Nintendo in addition to synchronously delivering to the gaming public an especially memorable, if not the most memorable launch title in the history of modern videogames in Super Mario World. Additionally, there was another likewise magnificent, albeit unconnected happening that from that time that merits a mention. The year nineteen ninety-one would too mark the release of Michael Jackson's follow-up to Bad: that now time-tested aural classic, Dangerous. Oh how my ears rejoiced listening to those pristine tunes so many years ago. Dangerous truly was a wonderfully compiled album with thoughtful material from beginning to end. And yet, as I listened to it ceaselessly upon its release, little did I know what wholly undeserved circumstance did lie in store for Mr. Jackson; sadly, the release of Dangerous would ultimately prove to be a bittersweet moment in time for it would mark the final time Michael Jackson would be free to create and entertain the masses without an unwarranted stigma of some sort. But I digress. The fact of the matter is nineteen ninety-one was an altogether blissful year for me, due in no small part to Nintendo's contributions to culture that year. Much to my delight, there would be no end to Nintendo's brilliance all the way through the eventful decade of the nineties.

Verily, the never-ending marathons of unadulterated entertainment of the class Nintendo so proficiently delivers with such sophistication kept me wakeful past bedtime on several occasions. Whether I was shooting arrows from a distance at bomb-throwing giants and slashing at baddies with my trusty sword in a lush fantasy world teeming with life as Link in The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past or jumping on overfed rats and assorted kremlings in an array of environments as Donkey Kong in Donkey Kong Country, elation was the emotion I did experience. Did I forfeit significant amounts of money for these experiences? Absolutely, but seeing as my general philosophy dictated that since life is fleeting, indulging oneself in a hobby is harmless given the activity is lawful, I felt inclined to relent to my desire to purchase notable software, which typically ended up being software developed and/or published by Nintendo in the early days.

Thus far I have only written of my fondness for Nintendo's wares which could possibly lead one to believe that I am blinded by my adoration for the company, yet I am hardly partial to a fault as far as videogames are concerned as evidenced by the fact that I am a multi-console user. I have a clear preference for Nintendo products, I admit, but I am a gamer first and foremost and a Nintendo fan second. In view of that, I have explored different platforms for their worthwhile software throughout the years. One such case was when I purchased a Sega Saturn on a whim and quickly discovered that it offered a wealth of 2D fighting games of which I purchased some domestically and imported a few. Although I never truly became proficient at playing these games, for I find difficulty in memorizing memorize complex button combinations, I had fun with them nonetheless in 2-player contests with my associates. I also purchased a used Playstation from an acquaintance and subsequently procured most of the noteworthy software in its library, including but not to limited to its RPGs and various Capcom titles such as the Mega Man X titles and Resident Evil games. Really, when all is said and done fun is fun, regardless of its source, however, in my view, nothing can quite compare to Nintendo's brand of fun. Upon further reflection, I may very well be a blind Nintendo aficionado. Oh well. Tongue

So why did I share my account you ask? Very simply, since a few of you are operating under the belief that I am nothing more than a joke, I wish to dispel that fallacy by relating my very real personal experience to you all as a means of proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that I am really this person I claim to be. Another motive for sharing my account was to perhaps have the gesture returned, for you see, I am very fond of you all and I think it would nice to read how you arrived at your present state as a gamer. Just how did your gaming addiction start? Only share if you feel comfortable doing so; you are under no obligation.

I wish happiness and peace to you all. Have a nice day and be sure to smile. Smile

Your posts need more sexual content, Neo. Try writing about watersports or anal sex.

Whoever came up with that poem needs to be pistol-whipped. I'm all for Nintendo and the games they make, but sweet God, this is straight lunacy.

I wish to thank you matz8916 for clarifying that minor misapprehension. The poem is indeed my creation; I merely quoted it to separate it from the larger post that succeeded it. Believe me when I say that that poem conveyed my sincerest sentiments. Nintendo is very dear to me so I cannot help but write poetry to describe my love for them and all that they do.

Damn man, you can't do anything else with your free time? There are other ways to show your appreciation for Nintendo than writing some creepy ass poem.
