The contraceptive itself couldn't be 100% effective anyway, why is the doc paying for it? ___________________ ![]() I was young and confused and your mom didn't want me around no more. Now pass me dem damn collard greens! |

Well, in their defence they might not have had the money for another kid, yet still loved it so wanted to keep it. Raising a child does cost a lot of money, though I'm pretty sure the German state also pays child support, which may not cover every extra expense, but certainly the $600 a month is an exagerated amount. If anything the doctor should have told the parents, and they could just as well have informed themselves on the matter, that such an implant isn't entirely full proof either, like many things any means of contraception has certain failure rates, which may or may not be due to faulty use of it. I've heard of migration of these implants in the news before, so although very rare, I don't think it would be fair to simply blame the doctor for it, unless it can be proven without a doubt the migration was his fault because of a mistake in the operation, and not because of a reaction of the woman's own body to it. ___________________

I can't imagine any medical process not having disclaimers plastered all over it. This is a frivolous lawsuit however you look at it. If you want to sue for malpractice or whatever the equivalent is in Europe because the procedure (or perhaps the device?) didn't function to its guarantee, that's reasonable. But asking for child support is frivolous, not to mention sick. |
