NOA confirms Super Paper Mario still on the Cube this fall ?!? Up until this week most Cube fans had accepted the fact that Super Paper Mario was no longer a Cube game. However, Nintendo of America's customer support has blown the argument wide open again. The fan site Go Nintendo wrote to NOA and asked them point blank if the Cube version of SPM was cancelled. They got this reply: "Hello and thank you for contacting Nintendo, You'll be glad to hear that Super Paper Mario will still be a Nintendo GameCube game. However, the release date has changed. It is now listed as 4th Quarter (October, November, or December) 2006. As always (and you may have already read this), if you're interested in future video game releases, our website's Game List (www.nintendo.com/gamelist) is your best resource for official information. Once there, click "Show advanced filtering" and use the dropdown menus to narrow your search based on system, publisher, number of players, etc." See this link for details: http://gonintendo.com/?p=6256 Shortly after Nintendo.com updated the official Super Paper Mario page to remove the October 9th release date. However, they left it listed as a Cube game. http://www.nintendo.com/gamemini?gameid=GQS69OMrMZsIV23x14GSc7nrT0hW1XJt& Before anyone gets too excited, it could be that NOA's customer service people are not up to date. They have been wrong before. However, the situation looks very different than it did after the September Wii announcements. The door is open again. It is possible that SPM will get the "only in America" Cube treatment. The installed base in the US is bigger than the other two territories combined and the Cube still sells at a rate of 10,000 units a week here so maybe NOA feels its worth the while to release the Cube version here. Who knows. |

I'm betting on it being an incompetent NOA rep. |

Eh, whatever. The Cube is dead, I'd just play it on the Wii anyway. ___________________ Kung Fu treachery. |

EDIT : I was just on Nintendo's official site and noticed that Kirby's Adventure GCN is still listed as a Cube game with a release date of "announced". This leads me to believe that the website cannot be trusted with respect to which games are or are not still coming to the Cube. |

At this point Its mid-November and NOA have still not specified a release date for Super Paper Mario on the Cube so I am assuming that it is not coming this year. In fact it is probably not ever coming. On a side note, if you want to see an example of a childish argument, head over to Wikipedia's page for Super Paper Mario and click on the discussion bar. They have been fighting for two months now on whether or not the game should be listed as a Cube game, Wii game, or both. |

The source of the confusion is that Nintendo of Japan listed SPM as a Wii game back on Sept 15th, but if you e-mail NOA they will tell you that SPM is still coming to the Cube. The different parts of the company are saying different things. This has caused some people to conclude that North America might still get SPM as a Cube game. Personally, I think it will be Wii only, but there has been no official confirmation that the Cube game is cancelled yet. |

The game will be released one way or another. The most likely scenario is a Wii-only version released in 2007. |

I changed my TP GC reserve to a SPM reserve at GameStop today The employee said it was coming out around January. How valid that is is up in the air, just though some of you might like to know. |

I got a e-mail notification from EB/GameStop. SPM for GameCube has been pushed back to 6/1/07 (BTW, my order has been in place since August.) |

I have no plans to buy a Wii so if Nintendo does release the game for Cube in 2007 I will buy it. However, I am inclined to believe that it won't happen. Considering that Zelda TP is a limited release and Nintendo seem to be loath to even mention the Cube these days I can't see them releasing a big Cube game in June of next year. |

The limited release thing started because EBGames.com stopped taking per-orders for Zelda TP and put a notice on their site stating that this was due to limited production. Follow the link below: http://www.ebgames.com/default.asp?sect=1277 However, this all happened before the Wii came out and at that time Nintendo were uncertain how well the Wii would be received. Since the Wii is sold out everwhere there is really no reason for them to hold back on the Cube version any more. Maybe they will change their minds and print more copies of Zelda for Cube. |

Nintendo would be foolish to limit production of the Gamecube version. It's like printing money for them, as many people intend to buy both versions. Not to mention all the people who intend to buy it only for the Gamecube, like myself. |

Back on the topic of Super Paper Mario, I hope that Nintendo clears this issue up in the new year. All I want is for them to make a clear statement about whether or not the Cube version is cancelled. If the game is still on then announce a new date. Better yet, put out a list of games that are planned for the Cube in 2007. If its cancelled, they put out a press release confirming that it is now a Wii only title. |
