A "classic approach" Top 100 Games of All Time Well over at the forum of Digital Press a site dedicated to classic gaming made a list of the top 100 games of all time. It's pretty good. Better than a lot of them. Metroid Prime should be in the top 25, though, imo, and there is no way I'd rank FF7 higher than FF4. But yeah, it's a good list. |

The misguided hate for Sunshine rears its ugly head again. Nice to see Wonder Boy on there, though; I found those games addictive as hell in my younger days. Doom does not deserve to be on that list. Talk about garbage. ___________________

Starfox 64 deserves to be way up there. And they seemed to miss out on lots of classics. Perfect Dark and Skies of Arcadia, of course! But what really makes me angry is that Mystical Ninja and Goemon's Great Adventure weren't even seen on there. Unbelievable. It's a shame they miss out on such great games. ___________________ ![]()

This is one of the first times I somewhat agree with a "Top 100 Games of All Time" list! I'm thrilled to see SMB 3 at the top, it's my personal favorite of all the super mario bros. ___________________ ![]() Get your Portable ID! |

Tons better than any of the other "top 100" lists. There are a couple games I'd move around/take off the list, but other than that, very good. ___________________ |

SUPER METROID IS THE BEST GAME OF ALL TIME GRAAAAAGH. Other than that, it's a good list. Halo should be on there, somewhere, and HL2 needs to shoot up a couple of spots. Also, too many older games. A bit too much nostalgia. ___________________ Kung Fu treachery. |

OoT should be # 1. Other than that, there's no real problem. ___________________ Investors Business Daily on Obama "death panel":

If they mean 100 games that were at some point in time, on a relative scale better than other games that came out at other times, then it is a reasonably good list. I mean I can think of one hundred other games that are now much, much better than doom in every single way, and I'm sure they can too, so why is it like 30? |

I actually really like this list. JGR, MvC2, the Marios and Zeldas, it's not bad at all. I might joust about the order a bit, but there were no games on there that a strong case could not be made for. Also, I'm happy to see #74 on the list in anticipation of the DS release. |

LttP 3rd and OoT 8th? THANK GOD. I see an explosion coming from... a certain forum member, though... SF2 Turbo above the rest is stupid, though. WHAT WERE THESE PEOPLE THINKING? Turbo is only the WORST REVISION OF THE GAME. Do these people not realize the revisions before and after it (Champion Edition and Super) are better games?! ___________________ Is it so wrong for someone to have a radically different opinion concerning certain Nintendo games than that of other Nintendo fans, even if the person's opinion is generally positive? |

Upon further inspection, I just realized that games such as Lunar, Bomberman IV, Shinobi, Final Fight, Streets of Rage and a couple other classics didn't make the list, yet games like Doom 2 (which was just a sequel and didn't add anything new to the series), Vice City (should have been scrapped from the list, since most of GTAs are too similar and SA was better gameplay-wise), Robotron (Smash TV and Total Carnage built upon its foundation to make much better games) did. That disappoints me. ___________________ |

This is basically the same list we always see, with a significant bias towards the classic. Even the title of the thread says it. There is no easy way to evaluate this topic in a way where someone isn't going to bitch like a child about it. Ocarina of Time is still vastly superior to A Link to the Past

You need to put FFVII and Zelda OoT higher on the list than what they are(FFVII should be in at least the top 30 or 20 and OoT should be in the top 5 or #1, being the best game ever!) ___________________ ![]() ![]()

I'll never understand why everyone looks Ocarina of Time so much. While I've flip-flopped on this, I even thought Metal Gear Solid was the better game at the time. And especially compared to Link to the Past! LttP just exudes a sort of polish that's missing in a polygon-ridden mess like OoT. LttP has better music and, strangely, a more coherent plot. I thought it was a cop-out that LttP was a "prequel" to the original Zeldas and I felt it was even more of a cop-out when OoT became a "prequel" to LttP. Sure, Nintendo storyline's are always a bit lame, but I guess in my old age I remember them being much more interesting back in the early 90's... I think this is a pretty awesome list, though. Hell, it has Snatcher on it! I was also happy to see that Wonder Boy got on there, too. I tried playing Monster World IV once...weird game. My biggest beef is putting Castlevania: Symphony of the Night at #9. C'mon, it's a Super Metroid clone! Sure, it's got beautiful production values and it's one of those hard-core under-the-radar games, but it's not one of the 10 best games of all time. I think you can maybe make a case for the others they put in the top ten... And I'm just curious as to what's so wrong with Street Fighter 2 Turbo? I always thought Champion had absurd balancing issues and Super...eh...Cammy was cool. |

I think Ocarina of Time's greatness is divided into categories, for some people like me, it was the first Zelda game I ever played, a lot of people my age (or slightly younger) were that way. On the other hand you have the older games (21+) who were with the Zelda series from the start and the first time they were floored was with A Link to the Past, so Ocarina of Time, while still great, didn't seem all that revolutionary. Personally I think it's all nostalgia related, and people are too stuborn to admit to that. Now if you people would just realize the amazingness of Majora's Mask we wouldn't have these issues. |
