90s
Someone sent me this on myspace, and I thought it would be interesting. I know some of you here were born before 1990 (while other's weren't), so this might mean stuff to you. It's kinda dorky too

Body: Anybody under the age of 15 should not read this, and if you should, you should not repost this.

Just because you were born in '92 doesn't mean you're a 90's kid.

It's not like you could remember the original Simpsons. I am sorry but three conscious years of the nineties just wont cut it.

Why? Well...

You're a 90's kid if:

You've ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCH!"

You can sing the rap to "The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air"

You remember when Kurt Cobain, Tu Pac, River Phoenix, and Selena died.

You know that "Whoa!" comes from Joey from "Blossom" and that "How Rude!" comes from Stephanie from "Full House"

You remember when it was actually worth getting up early
on Saturday to watch cartoons.

You got excited when it was Oregon Trail day at school.

You got a new "Goosebumps" book every month.

You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, wax off"

You have pondered why Smurfette was the only female smurf.

You took plastic cartoon lunch boxes to school.

You danced to "wannabe" by the Spice Girls, and...

...females had a new motto, and males got a whole lot gayer.

You remember the craze and subsequent banning of slap bracelets and slam books.

You still get the urge to say "NOT" after (almost) every sentence... Not!

You played "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?" at school and then went home to watch it on TV.

Captain Planet. Enough said.

You knew that Kimberly, the Pink Ranger, and Tommy, the Red Ranger, were meant to be together.

To the last sentence you said "Hey, Tommy was the green* ranger!"

Then you said "And he was the White Ranger!"

When playing Power Rangers with friends, you fought over who got to be who...

...and still all ended up being Tommy.

"The Console Wars" referred to Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis.

You watched Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York... and tried to pull the pranks on your "intruder" siblings.

"I've fallen and I can't get up!"

You remember going to the skating rink before there were inline skates

Two words... Trapper Keeper.

You ever got injured on a Slip 'n' Slide

You wore socks over leggings scrunched down

"Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack, all dressed in black, black, black, with silver buttons, buttons, buttons, all down her back, back, back" SHE ASKED HER MOTHER MOTHER MOTHER FOR FIFTY CENTS CENTS CENTS TO SEE THE ELEPHANTS PHANTS PHANTS JUMP OVER THE FENCE THE FENCE THE FENCE
he jumped so high high high he touched the sky sky sky and he didnt come back back back til the forth of july ly ly he jumped so low ow ow he stubbed his toe toe toe and thats the end end end of the elephants show show show

You played your tapes on a boombox.

Your favorite song was "The Right Stuff" by New Kids on the Block...

...and when Joey McIntyre was on Dancing With the Stars, you felt like he was a real celebrity.

You knew all the characters names and their life stories on "Saved By The Bell"

You played and or collected "Pogs"

You had at least one Tamagotchi, GigaPet or Nano and brought it everywhere

You watched the original Care Bears, My Little Pony, and Ninja Turtles

Yikes pencils and erasers were the stuff!

All your school supplies were "Lisa Frank" brand.

You begged your parents for a new Beanie Baby every week.

You remember a time before the WB.

"Are You Afraid of the Dark?" was the scariest show ever.

You know the Macarena. (BPB people automatically get this one :-p)

"Talk to the hand."

You hoped Brain would finally take over the world.

You always said, "Then why don't you marry it!"

You wondered why the plastic Slinky didn't make it down the stairs like the metal one.

When we were younger...

We all wanted L.A. Gear... and L.A. Lights

You weren't allowed to get British Knights (BK) shoes because they looked like gang shoes.

We rented VHS tapes, not DVDs.

Gas was $0.95 a gallon and Caller ID was a technological revolution.

We recorded stuff on VCRs & paid $3.50 for a movie.

We called the radio station to request songs to hear off our walkmans.

2Pac and Biggie were still alive.

The Chicago Bulls were the best team ever.

We had something called The Dream Team.

Tag.

The phrase "Get Over Here!!!!" means something to you.

Hide-n-Go Seek at dusk.

Red Light, Green Light.

Heads Up 7 Up.

Playing Kickball & Dodgeball until your porch light came on.

Hopskotch.

REAL Slip-n-Slides

Hula Hoops.

"POWER OF LOVE" BY CELINE DION..ONLY COUPLES COULD SKATE TO THIS.

Annoying Nano Pets & Furbies.

When Mufasa died in The Lion King, you cried... in a movie theater.

Happy Meals where you chose a Barbie or a Hot Wheels car.

Squeeze It and CapriSun

We watched...

Saturday Morning Cartoons in your PJ's still wrapped up in your TMNT, Power Rangers, Barbie, Fairy Princess comforter.

Woody Woodpecker and Chilly Willy

ThunderCats

Hey Arnold!

Rugrats

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

More specifically, Bulk and Skull and Ernie the Juice Bar guy

CHiPs

Garfield and Friends

Or what about:

The Secret Life of Alex Mack

Ren & Stimpy

Double Dare

Family Double Dare

Rocco's Modern Life

Aaahh! Real Monsters

Wild & Crazy Kids

Clarissa Explains it All

Salute Your Shorts ("Caaaamp Anawaaaanaaaa...")

Are You Afraid of the Dark?

The ORIGINAL cast members of All That.

More specifically, "Vital Information" with Lori Beth Denberg.

Doug

The Magic School Bus

Nick Arcade.

The Adventures of Pete and Pete.

Legends of the Hidden Temple.

Hey Dude

Dinosaurs.

Pinky and the Brain.

Sailor Moon.

Blossom.

Hangin' With Mr. Cooper.

Wishbone.

Bill Nye the science guy!

Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood!

Who could forget Snick?

And the original Nick @ Nite with Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Get Smart, The Facts of Life and I Love Lucy.

Where everyone wanted to be in love after watching The Wonder Years.

Nick Jr... with Face

Gullah Gullah Island

Under the Umbrella Tree

Pee-Wee's Mother-F'ing Playhouse

The Big Comfy Couch

Go back to the time when:

Kool-Aid was the drink of choice.

Wearing your new shoes on the first day of school.

When Christmas was the most exciting time of year.

When $5 seemed like a million, & another dollar a miracle.

When you begged to go to McDonalds for dinner everyday.

When Toys R Us was cooler than the mall.

Decisions were made by going 'eeny-meeny-miney-moe'.

Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming 'do over!'

'Race issue' ment arguing about who ran the fastest.

Money issues were handled by whoever was the banker in Monopoly.

It wasn't odd to have two or three "best" friends.

Being "old" referred to anyone over 20.

A chance to skate as a couple at the local roller rink was like winning the lottery.

Scrapes & bruises were kissed & made better.

Where the best form of protection was "circle circle dot dot now I've got my cootie shot, circle circle square square now I've got it everywhere"

It was a big deal to finally be tall enought to ride the 'big people' rides at the fair.

When playing Nintendo was the hardest thing ever.

When Ninja Turtles ruled the world.

Who'd have thought you'd miss the 90s so much?

I think I'm gonna cry. *tear*

Also lol to "Your favorite song was "The Right Stuff" by New Kids on the Block...", while that wasn't my favorite, "Please Don't Go Girl" was back when Joey McIntyre was going to be my future husband, I had the home video set, every CD and concert memorabilia for years until I moved from Chicago a few years ago.

The rest of the list just completely melted my heart and I can only take comfort in the fact that memories are usually looked back upon fondly because you ignore all the crap that went along with them at the time.

*sings very loudly(
The first time was a great time
The second time was a blast
The third time I fell in love
Now I hope it lasts
I can see it in you walk
Tell it when you talk
Can see it in everything you do
Even in your thoughts
You got the right stuff baby
I love the way you turn me on
You got the right stuff baby
You're the reason why I sing this song
All that I needed was you
Oh, girl, you're so right
And all that I wanted was you
You made all my dreams come true (whispered)
Oh Oh Oh Oh, Oh Oh Oh Oh. (stupid arm movements while doign the footlocker)
Oh Oh Oh Oh, Oh Oh Oh Oh.
The first kiss was a sweet kiss
The second kiss had a twist
The third and your fourth kiss
I don't want to miss
I can see it in you walk
Tell it when you talk
Can see it in everything you do
Even in your thoughts
Oh Oh Oh Oh, Oh Oh Oh Oh.
Oh Oh Oh Oh, Oh Oh Oh Oh.
Girl, yeah baby
You know you got the right stuff
Girl, yeah baby
You know you know you got it, girl (sly smile)
In my life, it's so right
You made it.
Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh, Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh the right stuff.
Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh, Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh the right stuff.

Oh man, I totally remember like the entire choreography for that video! I'm such a goober.

You know alot of this stuff can still be encountered today, right?
Stuff I can relate to:
You've ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCH!"

You can sing the rap to "The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air"

You remember when it was actually worth getting up early
on Saturday to watch cartoons.

You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, wax off"

Basically, the point I'm getting at is that these lists are highly debatable. And people who you wouldn't expect to relate with alot of this stuff can actually.
And no, I never send anything about "I love the 90's", just that I know alot of the stuff on this list. *shrugs*

Stop talking, you aren't getting any sentences out right and you sound like an idiot. Even if you could make your point it'd probably be stupid.

VGEmblem should just shut up too though. Because he's coming out sounding more lame than anything.

But yeah, the list is broad, really broad. Especially the part at the end. But like 1/3 of the list is pretty much, "did you grow up watching Nick in the 90's?" And I can't really like think of a kid that didn't.

As a decade the 90's stomped all over the 2000's. I can't wait until 10 years from now when I have to read some lame list about gay cowboys, MadTV, and 50cent.

A hard lesson I learned when I was a kid was that dynamite colorforms from the Batman colorform kit are not meant to be shoved up your nostrils.

I also:

burned myself on many Creepy Crawlers

role played Saved by the Bell during recess in school

collected Police Academy, Ghostbusters, TMNT, Power Rangers, Star Wars, Beetlejuice, Mighty Max, and He-Man figures, but never played with the Mossman because he smelled like caca

would actually find awesome things at yard and garage sales

thought Nickelodeon Gak was ten times cooler than Playdoh or Silly Putty

never bothered reading any of the Weekly Readers in school

had dreams about flying in the skies with a raccoon tail

idolized Beavis and Butthead

bought more Pogs or Pokemon-related merchandise than I should've

could never beat Speedway Math

watched reruns of Knight Rider

thought Discovery Zone pwned Chuck E Cheese

wanted to be Michaelangeo from TMNT and would always be cautious was crossing sewers to see if I could catch a glimpse at any of them

EEK! What seriously? I got their autographs at the 1989-90 Hangin Tough tour when I was a wee lass, but I have no idea what happened to that poster. Man that entire time brings back just like the fondest memories. I had my first kiss when I got home from the concert from the little boy across the street!

That list... *smiles

Also, my daughter absolutely loves all the toys that I grew up on now that they have all been re-released, like Strawberry Shortcake (who now looks like a little slut and doesn't wear the adorable peasant girl outfit anymore), Care Bears (I even still have my original Cheer Bear), My Little Pony, etc. And Jared has the boy hooked on GI Joe's and TMNT stuff. It's fantastic because it's just like being a kid again. Only we get to make the decisions!

i'm glad i was born in 86. Partial 80's kid and ful on 90's kid. I think its sad that my sister still claims she's all 80's when she was born in 88. She like jams out to cindy loper and wears bright colors. She owns a shirt that says product o the 80's, which is kinda taken out of context.

You've ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCH!"

Oh **** i remember doing that. How ****ing sad.

You can sing the rap to "The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air"

I can do the TV show version however not the extended version.

You remember when Kurt Cobain, Tu Pac, River Phoenix, and Selena died.

yep

You know that "Whoa!" comes from Joey from "Blossom" and that "How Rude!" comes from Stephanie from "Full House"

I get the feeling i should remember blossom.

You remember when it was actually worth getting up early
on Saturday to watch cartoons.

Three words: marvel action hour. TV sucks now for kids.

You got excited when it was Oregon Trail day at school.

what?

You got a new "Goosebumps" book every month.

They were overrated and could be completed in an hour.

You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, wax off"

Who doesn't?

You have pondered why Smurfette was the only female smurf.

She was the Smurf town whore.

You took plastic cartoon lunch boxes to school.

i remember these.

You danced to "wannabe" by the Spice Girls, and...

i was smart enough not to ber sucked into the mindless drivel that was the Spice Girls. Their assault on my ears has not been forgiven.

...females had a new motto, and males got a whole lot gayer.

Ricky Martin and girl power?

You remember the craze and subsequent banning of slap bracelets and slam books.

What?

You still get the urge to say "NOT" after (almost) every sentence... Not!

I stopped doing that when i was like 7

You played "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?" at school and then went home to watch it on TV.

The theme song was awesome. For anyone interested in getting another nostalgia trip. Go to www.yahoo.com and click on the yahooligans link. old episodes ca be found of this show. As well as this Sherlock Holmes animated series. Zelda, MArio and a few others.

Captain Planet. Enough said.

Earth, wind water and the ever so inane heart. How **** was heart!?

You knew that Kimberly, the Pink Ranger, and Tommy, the Red Ranger, were meant to be together.

I thought Tommy was the green/white ranger?

To the last sentence you said "Hey, Tommy was the green* ranger!"

I replied without actualy seeing the above sentence :p. Oh my.

Then you said "And he was the White Ranger!"

Look up

When playing Power Rangers with friends, you fought over who got to be who...

true

...and still all ended up being Tommy.

Sometimes.

"The Console Wars" referred to Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis.

The Golden Age

You watched Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York... and tried to pull the pranks on your "intruder" siblings.

That's sadistic.

"I've fallen and I can't get up!"

You remember going to the skating rink before there were inline skates

I can do neither.

Two words... Trapper Keeper.

You ever got injured on a Slip 'n' Slide

You wore socks over leggings scrunched down

What?!

Huh?

You played your tapes on a boombox.

Yep.

Your favorite song was "The Right Stuff" by New Kids on the Block...

i was spared this tripe.

...and when Joey McIntyre was on Dancing With the Stars, you felt like he was a real celebrity.

pff

You knew all the characters names and their life stories on "Saved By The Bell"

Yep. why did everyone fancy Kelly. Lisa was the hottest.

i'm glad i was born in 86. Partial 80's kid and ful on 90's kid. I think its sad that my sister still claims she's all 80's when she was born in 88. She like jams out to cindy loper and wears bright colors. She owns a shirt that says product o the 80's, which is kinda taken out of context.

Whatever.

anybody remember the show "Dinosaurs"? i fell asleep in class the other day and it was the first thing on my mind.

Good times those were. I remember I got a $100 bill for my birthday when I was like six, spent it all on Goosebumps books. I have around 200 of them. Tamagotchi's and those Gigapets were cool. Nickelodeon was the bomb back in the ninteties, but now...

OK, I was born in 1979, but I still felt most of that stuff was lame. Screw New Kids, screw the Power Rangers, screw Nirvana, screw most of that Nickelodeon BS...

I love how a couple years between a person and his/her childhood can turn crap to gold. Seriously-- you were victims of clever marketing campaigns. Angle instead of substance. Admit it. There is no "subtle charm or sensibility to them that only becomes apparent with time and maturity". They just weren't that great to begin with, and all you really want to do is be entertained as easily as you were then. Just agree. End the denial.

You know, alot of that stuff I would consider to be more 80's than 90's. Take the smurfs, that show ran from 81-90. And peewee herman, thats 80s for sure. Same with Chips and Thundercats. I was born in the 70's so I would consider myself an expert on these things. Wink

I was born in 1985, and I don't remember anything from the 80's, beside playing duck hunt at my cousin's house, and wanting to go to school really badly. I remember all of the stuff from the 90's though. IMO, you have to be at least five or six to solidly remember things in your life happening

As a child of '89, I remember roughly about a half of these- the others are either american or just something I didn't do (like Pogs and psych).

You know the Macarena, actually had to learn this in gym class when I was in middle school. How worthless is that.

Here is what I think about the 90's, it is the crap out of the 80's. The 80's were so great that no other era could top it and the 90's were its left overs and it wasn't that good.

Now I know why you think the Stone Roses 'Second Coming' is a good album - you're like 16. Get 'The La's' (GO records - 1990) and stop listening to that commercial ****e.

I was an '80s kid, FUCK the '90s! The decade that cool forgot.

The 80's was the best decade ever, just look at the movies and the music, it is great all around. One movie can sum it all up, and that is Breakfest Club.

I love The La's. You saying I don't know The La's? 'Cos I know The La's.

And yes, I shudder every time I see that unwanted apostrophe.

If you like the La's then dig up some Makin' Time records, like a cross between the Jam and The La's, only different.

How do you remember the 80's at all? I personally have a very sketchy memory of anything before kindergarten (1990). The only reason I know anything about the 1980's is because of what I've seen on VH1

How about no, Scott? ROFL NINETIES REFERENCE FTW

Also it kind of bothers me that cultural changes tend to occur more often on the 5's than the 0's. Like '75-85 and '85-'95 feel much more like consolidated pieces of culture than the '80-'90 or '90-2000. So saying "I love the 90's" or "the 80's were awesome" is like... no, that's just so wrong. They were both incredibly shitty decades. But '85-'95 was pretty awesome, and that's where I'd identify my childhood.

Annoying Nano Pets & Furbies.

When Mufasa died in The Lion King, you cried... in a movie theater.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

Dinosaurs.

Pinky and the Brain.

Being "old" referred to anyone over 20.

When playing Nintendo was the hardest thing ever.

Who'd have thought you'd miss the 90s so much?

Well, I'm not from America, so lot's of the things on the list are a bit unfamiliar to me, but other things aren't...

I think Tommy was/is the coolest ranger ever... Especially as the Green Ranger, wreaking havoc on the other power rangers, who I was more than sick of until he arrived,... wham there he was, a ranger drawing his powers from the dark side, commanding a Dragon as his Zord: the DragonZord, and with enough strength to whipe the floor with all the other ranger's combined...

It's a pitty Sega had to disappear from the console-makers market, they were a hell of a lot better than Sony... (or M$)

I've actually killed a Furby, and now they're back, I'll probably kill even more of those nasty critters...

I did not cry during the Lion King, almost but no...

Not the mama... Gotta love me...
I still watch those Dinosaur reruns sometimes

Gee, Brain, what do you want to do tonight?" "The same thing we do every night, Pinky: Try to take over the world!"

Old, I'm almost 20 now, I am getting old...
