50 Cent: Bulletproof sells 1+ million copies
http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/060124/latu004.html?.v=29

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Vivendi Universal Games (VU Games) today announced that 50 Cent: Bulletproof, the hit title created in collaboration with hip-hop music sensation 50 Cent, has sold through more than one million units.* Since its global launch in late-November, 50 Cent: Bulletproof has been in high-demand at retail stores in the U.S. and U.K.

"The exciting convergence of gaming and music helped make 50 Cent: Bulletproof one of GameStop's top selling titles in the month of December," said Bob McKenzie, Sr. Vice President of Merchandising.

50 Cent: Bulletproof boasts over four CDs worth of music including new exclusive music by 50 Cent, more than a dozen music videos and tons of bonus features. It is available for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and Xbox® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

"Gamers and 50 fans alike have enthusiastically responded to the groundbreaking fusion of frenetic gameplay and the lyrical imagery of the exclusive 50 Cent music tracks in 50 Cent: Bulletproof," said Cindy Cook, Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer, VU Games. "The strong sales of Bulletproof underscore the undeniable appeal of the artist, his music and the engaging interactive experience that this game delivers."

About 50 Cent: Bulletproof

In 50 Cent: Bulletproof, 50 gets caught in a web of corruption, double-crosses and shady deals that lead him on a bloody path through New York's underworld. Backed-up by his G-Unit soldiers, the streets heat up as 50 Cent takes on the most dangerous crime families in the city. Players assume the role of 50 Cent in a fictitious story, where they will use an arsenal of tactics including more than 25 dramatic counter-kill moves, evasive rolls and mobile cover to stay alive while the bullets fly.

Penned by Emmy® award winner Terry Winter, 50 Cent: Bulletproof stars an unprecedented line-up of the hottest recording artists in the music industry today, including 50 Cent and G-Unit's Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks and Young Buck, as well as other hip-hop superstars.

The game also includes exclusive new tracks and remixes from 50 Cent, music from his multi-platinum albums Get Rich or Die Tryin' and The Massacre and over a dozen 50 Cent and G-Unit music videos.

50 Cent: Bulletproof was created in partnership with Interscope Records, Shady Records and Aftermath Records. 50 Cent: Bulletproof will be available for the PSP(TM) (PlayStation®Portable) system in 2006.

More information about the game can be found at http://www.50centbulletproof.com/.

I'm up for a sequel, cause I'm sure the development team can fix the problems of the first one.

*sigh* I will admit, that the soundtrack was ok, and the graphics were alright, but the fact that it was about fifty cent, gave me doubts that it would sell this many copies.

I guess people will buy anything

The game suckes of ASS. I have no idea how in the world it could have sold 1+ million copies. Did the people who got the game ever actually take a look at the reviews for the game.

That's true but I would like them to play other games though, games that aren't more of the same.

It woudl be great to see a game liek Shadow of the Collosus (even though it's Sony) surpass the 1 million mark, or games like Guitar Hero. Hopefully the American market will change. Soon enough the casual gamers will catch on to Madden's same game every year.

I've let 7 of my ps2 owning friends play my copy of Guitar Hero and about 5 of them are buying it. If a store would just put that brilliant game on display it would work wonders.

When "the industry" is focused on and encouraged by sales to make only ****ty licensed games and redundant sequels, it's not a positive thing for it to be kept afloat. Sometimes an industry needs to die so it can be reborn as something better. Now is one of those times.

You play the game? Probly not so STFU. This game sold well because of his fanbase yes but if you sat down and played it and got use to the control of the game it wasn't all that bad. The soundtrack was excellent and seeing Dr.Dre and Em in the game was funny as hell.

Remember Enter the Matrix sold 3 million copies and it was far worse than this game is.

I totally agree. Enter the matrix was much more stiff then bulletproof.

and zig I agree with your post and hopefully the revolution can do what you say, the DS, shadow of the colossus, guitar hero and a couple other games are already proof of the industry turning a new cheek.

Well there's a difference, Billy Hatcher and Gotcha Force are both unique concepts. There's nothing new to 50 Cent: Bulletproof, it's just a run and gun action game with shallow gameplay that has a popular rapper tagged on the box. You don't have to look at reviews to see why this game shouldn't sell the way it does. Store shelves already have an over abundance of the urban gang/we kill everything games, and most of them are done better then this. So what's the point?

you never know until you try the game. It is exactly what you say it is, but dont knock certain games till you try them. Also, when I said I dont listen to reviewers, of course I meant about purchasing a game and not about how they are going to sell(if that is what I got from reading your post).

DayLahs, you can't deny it's troubling that a likely mediocre at best game sells over a million copies just because 50 Cent is behind it when FAR FAR better games hardly see the light of day, let alone sell that many. That's what bugs us.

in all reality this doesnt bother me, cause I wasnt bother when "enter the matrix" outsold some of my favorite games. I'd like for a couple of games to sell more, but I blame that on the people who didnt buy them( I.E. wario ware twisted, gotcha force, etc...). There is nothing we can do about it and the crying over it wont help anything. I just continue to game and not worry about this game or 50 cent.

Good thing the only thing that let down a third person adventure game was the game play, and there i was thinking the most important things in games was gameplay.

This game sucks. Not because it outsold anything, because it flat out sucks. Not that I have much against 50 (I don't like him much anyways), but some of the guest stars were funny. Mostly Em and Dre, but I just couldn't get into it. Normally I love shooting games, and the concept of taking money from the people you killed is cool and all, but still.

I want more than good graphics, OK story, and ****ty gameplay. Sorry, but this isn't my cup of tea.

I never said the gameplay was TOTALLY destroyed. It just felt like I was playing like a game of "enter the matrix". It was stiff, but playable. The A.I. just wouldnt die and cant take multi shots even up close. their are much worse games out there, but you guys are just crying over nothing. I played it through once and now it collects dust.

so either play the game or shut up about this please.

100% true. Not all gamers are on forums, buy mags, watch G4, or anything like that. They see a game called "Bang this B!tch" and a teenage boy will say I want that. I remember when I was younger picked a box up read its description and if it sounded cool i bought it. Thats how most still shop and theres nothing wrong with that. I've stopped reading a lot of reviews when I want the game. They influenced me at one point and I'm kinda pissed at how many great games I probly missed out on.
