"obliterated beyond all recognition" I'm not deluding myself. I know none of you give a flying crap about what Al Gore has to say. So just pretend the person who gave this speech is Daisy. This is something we should care about. From Raw Story:

It's a wonderful speach that I really agree with but the overall population just isn't informed enough. If you try to talk to the average person about it they won't know what you're talking about. Government controls the media and the media controls the people. ___________________ ![]() |

That was indeed a wonderful speech, Long, but worth reading. He brought up a lot of things that I hadn't realized previously, and repeated a few things that I had already realized. ___________________ "If one rejects laissez faire on account of mans fallibility and moral weakness, one must for the same reason also reject every kind of government action." -Mises "I would remind you, that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice...and let me remind you also, that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue." - Goldwater |

Good God. What a beautiful peice of work. Al Gore should run again. He did beat Bush the last time (well, in the popular vote, talk about going through the back door), he'll beat the pants off anyone who runs against him if he keeps on speaking like this. Al Gore for 2008! ___________________ Investors Business Daily on Obama "death panel":

Because he's a lame, boring whiny-sounding Democrat. If you think it can't get better than Gore then I feel very very sorry for your Party. Actually I feel very sorry for your party even without Gore. The man gave an amazing speech but he had his shot - unless you want automatic failure, don't even consider the man for Presidency. ___________________ ![]() I was young and confused and your mom didn't want me around no more. Well Bush is quite possibly the worst president of all time when it comes to talking about...well anything (and quite possibly the worst president of all time in general depending on who he's spyed on). At least Gore can fill out his points inteligently. If Bush got elected (which he really didn't), Gore certainly can. What I think Democrats need is a smart democrat that doesn't sound like an idiot (Howard Dean, I'm looking at you), and whoose not a woman (lets face it, people in Georgia and other southern states which the dems. need, are automatically biased towards a woman). you guys are all fvcking idiots. what clinton did and what bush is doing ARE THE SAME THING, and neither of them are/were illegal. gore is just a douche bag blowhard with no shame. the democrats will do anything, and i mean ANYTHING, to incriminate Bush so that they can impeach him or otherwise have him removed from office. even if it means impeaching him for something that their beloved savior bill clinton practiced. only dellusional BSD sufferers are stupid and blind enough to think that theres anything wrong with what Bush has admitted to doing. ___________________ JFK: Ich bin ein Berliner BHO: Ich bin ein beginner |

He may not but this right-wing conservative group has decided not to bend over and take whatever the Administration gives them like the Democrats do +++++++++ Leading Conservatives Call for Extensive Hearings on NSA Surveillance; Checks on Invasive Federal Powers Essential 1/17/2006 6:36:00 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To: National Desk Contact: Laura Brinker, 202-715-1540, for Patriots to Restore Checks and Balances, laura.brinker@dittus.com WASHINGTON, Jan. 17 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Patriots to Restore Checks and Balances (PRCB) today called upon Congress to hold open, substantive oversight hearings examining the President's authorization of the National Security Agency (NSA) to violate domestic surveillance requirements outlined in the Federal Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). Former U.S. Rep. Bob Barr, chairman of PRCB, was joined by fellow conservatives Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform (ATR); David Keene, chairman of the American Conservative Union; Paul Weyrich, chairman and CEO of the Free Congress Foundation and Alan Gottlieb, founder of the Second Amendment Foundation, in urging lawmakers to use NSA hearings to establish a solid foundation for restoring much needed constitutional checks and balances to intelligence law. "When the Patriot Act was passed shortly after 9-11, the federal government was granted expanded access to Americans' private information," said Barr. "However, federal law still clearly states that intelligence agents must have a court order to conduct electronic surveillance of Americans on these shores. Yet the federal government overstepped the protections of the Constitution and the plain language of FISA to eavesdrop on Americans' private communication without any judicial checks and without proof that they are involved in terrorism." The following can be attributed to PRCB members: "I believe that our executive branch cannot continue to operate without the checks of the other branches. However, I stand behind the President in encouraging Congress to operate cautiously during the hearings so that sensitive government intelligence is not given to our enemies." -- Paul Weyrich, chairman and CEO, Free Congress Foundation "Public hearings on this issue are essential to addressing the serious concerns raised by alarming revelations of NSA electronic eavesdropping." -- Grover Norquist, president, Americans for Tax Reform "The need to reform surveillance laws and practices adopted since 9/11 is more apparent now than ever. No one would deny the government the power it needs to protect us all, but when that power poses a threat to the basic rights that make our nation unique, its exercise must be carefully monitored by Congress and the courts. This is not a partisan issue; it is an issue of safeguarding the fundamental freedoms of all Americans so that future administrations do not interpret our laws in ways that pose constitutional concerns." -- David Keene, chairman, American Conservative Union "If the law is not reformed, ordinary Americans' personal information could be swept into all-encompassing federal databases encroaching upon every aspect of their private lives. This is of particular concern to gun owners, whose rights guaranteed under the Second Amendment are currently being infringed upon under the Patriot Act's controversial record search provisions." -- Alan Gottlieb, founder, Second Amendment Foundation Patriots to Restore Checks and Balances is an organization dedicated to protecting Americans' fundamental freedoms guaranteed by the Fourth Amendment and ensuring that all provisions of the Patriot Act are in line with the Constitution. wow, so you accuse me of "incapable of believing anything other than an administration press release" and then go on to cite the ASSOCIATED PRESS and AL GORE??? give me a break. im guessing you never heard of echelon? this whole thing is nothing but hot air coming from the democrats who care only about getting into power. they dont care about national security, and they dont care if more americans die on our soil. in fact, they are probably hoping theres another terrorist attack so that they can use it for political purposes. what WONT they use for political purposes? ___________________ JFK: Ich bin ein Berliner BHO: Ich bin ein beginner |

you misunderstood me. the republicans know this will go nowhere just like every other "impeachment" stunt the democrats have pulled over the last 5 years, so they are playing along. the democrats are running directly towards a cliff, why would the republicans bother stopping it? whats great is that come the 2006 elections, the democrats are STILL going to be that party that is too weak on security. ___________________ JFK: Ich bin ein Berliner BHO: Ich bin ein beginner |

Right, so every Republican or conservative who questions George Bush on this issue, implies impeachment or flat out says what Bush is doing is illegal is just ushering the Democrats to their doom. Then Republicans on the board here who are questioning the issue like Crusader are flat out liars then? Keep putting your foot in your mouth. ___________________ ![]() I was young and confused and your mom didn't want me around no more. Now pass me dem damn collard greens! |

you really think this is going to end in impeachment? how many times have the democrats called for impeachment of Bush? this is just the latest in a long line of huffing and puffing from a party that is frustrated that they cannot win elections. they know they cant win on issues like security or terrorism, so theyll just look for the next sensationaly story to scream "impeachment", and the media is more than happy to carry the banner for them. ___________________ JFK: Ich bin ein Berliner BHO: Ich bin ein beginner |

I really hate people who are loyal to political parties. Honestly, democrats and republicans are the same breeds. They think alike and do the same **** to each other. It's all playing the games of politics. Now I'm sure that lower level republicans and democrats exist that due truly care for their causes, but a democrat and republican president are virtually the same. Both are slaves to the corporate world. If they weren't they wouldn't be elected. ___________________ We're all just hapless victims of knowledge and learning and such The man you thought you licked 'em but you choked in the clutch Brent Black, you said it yourself it's an ethereal kind of flu A Mac virus reveals the plot of the fiendish Fu Man Chu |

Do you think the people who take part in Fox News polls represent the majority of Americans? Well, I guess I should just be glad you chose neutral news organizations like the NY Post and Fox News instead of the insanely biased Associated Press. What was I thinking?! Meanwhile, McCain has also come out saying that he thinks the wiretaps are illegal. ___________________ 5983-5392-0493-5427 pm if you're adding |

I wasn't going to post this earlier, but it seems necessary to point out that these aren't the only polls being conducted. According to Zogby's, "Americans want Congress to consider impeaching President Bush if he wiretapped American citizens without a judge's approval." Like I said, I don't put much stock in these polls but it should be known that there's no "public mandate." But like you said, whether the majority of Americans support it or not is hardly the issue. ___________________ 5983-5392-0493-5427 pm if you're adding |
