Sony: "The next generation doesn't start until we say it does." when it came to the fourth part of Sony's digital future vision, PlayStation, the Sony keynote address disappointed. Stringer, a masterful presenter, ceded the floor to Kaz Hirai, the similarly smooth president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America, who talked about...the PlayStation 2. Hirai said the console actually saw a 10 percent year-on-year increase in holiday sales, contradicting many analysts' predictions. He also elicited chuckles by pointing out that both the PS2 and the PSP outsold the hard-to-find Xbox 360 over the holidays. He also took a verbal swipe at Sony's next-gen rival, saying, "The next generation doesn't start until we say it does."When the subject did turn to the PlayStation 3, Hirai offered no major new information. He did say that the console is a "key pillar of Sony growth in 2006"--reconfirming its release this year--and said Sony has shipped out 4,000 software development kits for the console worldwide. Otherwise, though, Hirai merely restated previously known information about the PS3. He said its CPU, the vaunted Cell processor, would use only seven of its eight cores, and, yes, the console would be backward-compatible with both PS2 and original PlayStation games. --------- Ahh, arrogance. |

Well, he's basically right. I mean Nintendo's has stuck with "we'll be ready when the PS3 is ready" or whatever it is they're saying, and Xbox 360 is basically a buncha ports as of right now. So...

Sony honestly picks the weirdest times to talk about things. At E3 they should've been focusing on the PSP and Ps2, yet they ignored both and talked primarly of the Ps3. Now CES rolls around, it's the year of the Ps3, and what do they talk about? The Ps2, for ****'s sake. ridiculous. |

It makes perfect sense for Sony's interests and from their perspective. At E3 they had to soften the blow of the 360 as much as possible - hyping PS3 is what would best do that. Now that we're back to reality and Sony knows full well PS3 isn't coming out for a long while, they can just fall back on current consoles and try to make more money. Why talk about a console they have nothing substantial to show for now? |

Just look at the screenshots for any PS2 game and then look at the real game, that will show you that Sony is nothing but BS when it comes to screen shots. GT4 looked like pure crap, Shadow of the Colossis looked like crap (but played very well). But the screens for both of those games were amazing. Sony is BS when it comes to specs and graphics claims. |

To say that the Xbox 360 is not a next gen console is dumb IMO, the 360 is the Next generation of Xbox consoles. So for me Next Gen started 12am November 22 when I got my 360. |

It comes down to art next generation. Look at Perfect Dark Zero. Graphics are great, but the artstyle is some of the worst I've ever seen. ___________________ The secular progressive movement(liberals)are ruining this country.

PDZ is horribly bland. Hell, even the main character looks like a crackhead. The art design is very much lacking. Oh, and Fight Night doesn't look as good as the demo shown at E3, for some reason.
