It can be taken either way. Of course, if you bothered to understand the elaboration, you would know that the difference between "having a woman" and "having something higher on the ladder" is minimal. |

I considered offering two differing diagrams of the sentence, but... See, if a man has a woman, it doesn't mean that he doesn't have a ladder anymore. He would still have the inclination to give up his current woman with another higher on the ladder. Whether the guy's moral standing allows him to go through with this is besides the point. Put simply: if you're a woman, and you don't have a top spot on the guy's ladder, his treatment of you would be pretty much the same, no matter the circumstances. Really, the only factor would be your willingness to "give it up". |
