Don't Believe the Truth, and Lyla (First Oasis single in Three years!)
New Oasis Album, "Don't Believe the Truth" Coming in May.
May 30th in England, May 31st for the rest of the world.
Most of this isn't brand-new, but the last thing in this post is. Plus some of you moderate Oasis fans might want to read up on this.

Tracklisting and Noel Gallagher's comment on each of the tracks for Don't Believe the Truth.

From today's Daily Star. Full interview in May's Q.

Turn Up The Sun
"A bit like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. A stomper."

Mucky Fingers
"Imagine Bob Dylan singing Waiting For The Man with that frantic drumbeat."

Lyla
"Our poppiest thing since Roll With It. Annoyingly catchy. A bit like The Who."

Love Like A Bomb
"One of Liam's. It starts off acoustic and Martin Duffy of Primal Scream plays this kind of country piano solo."

The Importance Of Being Idle
"A cross between The Kinks and The La's about being a lazy ****er."

The Meaning Of Soul
"Like Elvis on crack. We played it at Glastonbury like The Stooges."

Part Of The Queue
"One of mine with a weird 3/4 rhythm that's a bit Shack doing Love."

Keep The Dream Alive
"A song by Andy that's like The Stone Roses."

Guess God Thinks I'm Abel
"A Liam tune that's kind of slowish and acoustic."

A Bell Will Ring
"Gem wrote it. It's the closest anybody's got to sounding like Revolver."

Let There Be Love
"We both sing, like the Self-Righteous Brothers. It's a fitting anthem to finish off the record."
----------------------

Some people are confused about many things. The first being is that Noel said that a song he wrote called ''Stop the Clocks'' was the best thing he's written in a while, but it doesn't appear here. Second is that Noel kept calling this a twelve track album, and there is clearly eleven. Maybe Stop the Clocks got pulled after he said it was a twelve track album. He did comment that they were debating whether or not they were going to include it.
Also an old Demo of Let There be Love exists. Supposedly it's very very different from the version on here. Noel's said it took seven years to complete.

The also said that since Heathen Chemistry they've written 66 songs collectively. DBTT was going to be a double album, except they didn't want to give Sony that big of an album (it's thier last one for Sony)

Here is also some Review by a guy who's heard it

By Colin Murray

When Noel scrawled tunes about nothing that meant the world and Liam buzzed off his head with a passion never rivalled by any rock 'n' roll singer in history.

Put simply, this is a glorious rebirth...

Noel is writing songs about queuing too long for a pint of milk and Liam is a whirlwind of inspiration and wondrous bull****. Fans have been waiting for this moment for ten years...

Why? Because it's been ten years since Oasis made an album that truly changed the musical landscape. It's been ten years since they wrote an album of such spirit that you felt compelled to adopt a swagger as you walked through the streets of your council estate.

Don't Believe The Truth is that album. It's the Oasis that blew you away and an Oasis you've never met.

It's not about one particular song. It never has been. It's about an old attitude that somehow got lost amidst the tabloid hoo-ha and the mountains of cash, coupled with a complete reinvention of how and why Oasis exist.
For the first time in their history, they are functioning as a band. No longer does Noel feel the weight of the world on his shoulders, and Liam's writing tunes with the enthusiasm of a toddler who's just mastered walking. Gem is the rock on which the new Oasis is built while Andy Bell is an enigmatic influence, who makes Liam watch films starring David Essex. They call him Wing Commander Bell.

They are four individuals, who have pushed, pulled, laughed and fought inside the four walls of a studio, for what seemed like forever, to reach the light. And now they've arrived, it's positively blinding.

When they listen back to this record, a newborn confusion reigns. They're not sure who played what and when. All they know is that Zak Starkey played drums, although there is a rumour flying around concerning Liam, two spoons and a box of Cheerios.

Don't Believe The Truth runs to eleven tracks, and Noel has written five. That includes Let There Be Love; a defining moment in Oasis history. A song pulled back from over-production; one that sighs rather than shouts. 'Who kicked a hole in the sky so the heavens could cry over me?' It'll break your heart.

Mucky Fingers - which sounds like nothing Noel has ever written before - is his trip on the Velvet Underground, fuelled by Jack Daniels and an old, beat up organ bought on e-bay.

Then there's Lyla, who is apparently ''Sally's sister'', and The Importance Of Being Idle - a song so stark, so simple and so fundamentally Oasis, that it could have been a b-side in 1994. It's THAT good.

When you hear Part of the Queue, you realise that 'Noel Gallagher the songwriter' has regained some truth. He's once again tackling the little things, and leaving the meaning of life to somebody who has the time to work it out.

Three tunes are Liam's, although he claims to have written over a hundred.

What we do hear is the deafening ninety second Meaning of Soul which spits fifties rock 'n' roll blades at passers by, while Love Like A Bomb is a wistful daydream that he wrote with ''Julie ****ing Christie'' in mind.

As for Guess God Thinks I'm Abel, Liam reckons he has a conversation with God one night in a boozer. God told him He was Abel. Simple as that.

Gem is his sounding board, who he drags into their studio at all hours to work on sparks of ideas that are currently flowing from him at a phenomenal rate. Andy describes Liam as ''...outrageously talented. He just invents chords. For every song on the album he probably has ten just as good''.

The opening track on Don't Believe The Truth is Andy Bell's Turn Up The Sun, with it's Midnight Cowboy intro that explodes into threatening, explosive rock 'n' roll. He also pops up with Keep the Dream Alive, a song inspired by a film called Stardust, starring David Essex. Noel won't watch it. The others won't shut up about it.

That leaves Gem's A Bell Will Ring and another layer on an album full of different sounds.

Noel sums up the all-new, harmonious Oasis...

''If somebody said to me, in twelve years you'll be in a band with your brother and two carrot munching geezers who don't like football I would have said **** off, I'm not joining the Bee Gees.''

Don't Believe The Truth is truly the long awaited new album from Oasis, a band who now operate with the type of unity and passion usually reserved for the A-Team, on the trail of a group of Mexican cattle rustlers. Thankfully, though, some things will never change...

And last but not least, the first single. It played on a Polish Radio Station before it was suppose to. This is the best quality version around. (That's not in FLAC format at least. I honestly can't tell the difference between this and the FLAC. The FLAC one is way too big and you can't listen to it on iTunes or many other jukeboxes. The beginning is cut because a polish guy was talking. It was just some strumming of the guitar)

I think it's a great tune, catchy as hell. Give it two or three listens.

Noel has also commented about Lyla that it's not even the fifth best on the new album. If the link expires I'll post it again.

I thought it could get a TAD louder. Didn't mind the length at all. I thought the guitar solo could be a little longer.

But all in all it's an awesome tune and I love it. Noel was right when he called it Annoyingly catchy.

If Noel's right about it not even being the fifth best track on the album, it seems to be that Don't Believe the Truth will rock.

I was never "in to" Oasis. I think they're a fine band and all but nothing special.

I always got upset about how people compared them to The Beatles, how can anybody compare any band or musician to The Beatles? It's heresy I say, heresy most foul.

It was hype. They admired the beatles and would pay tribute by saying things like "You can ride with me in my yellow submarine" And got as big as the beatles around 1995. So they compared them. Plus What's the Story Morning Glory outsold Sgt Peppers. And Definitely Maybe is the fastest selling debut album ever.

They have great music and I do like them better than the beatles, although the Beatles influence is far greater.

Wonder if it'll get any airplay in the states. I know it will in the UK.

I dunno I think it's cool. It grows on you and is catchy. Tons of my friends who weren't into Oasis loved it. Roll With it was also a first single. It was nowhere near the best song on Morning Glory, but it was great for a first single.

Yeah man. Mucky Fingers sounds like Dylan mixed with the Velvet Underground or something. Meaning of Soul is just...wow. Great. I heard a live performance of this in the summer at Glastonbury and it was mediocre, but this sounds great despite being short. Let There be Love is beautiful. I have an six year old demo of it and when I saw they were gonna use it for this album, I was a bit worried, but man I'm glad they did. And Keep the Dream Alive is going to be a single, I could just tell-- even though neither of the Gallagher Bros. wrote it (Andy Bell, their bassist, did.)

It all sounds different, but still Oasis.

Well, in Britain. Not in America. Too many fads for one band to stick. Plus, the beatles were pushin two records a year. Bands don't work like that.

And they still DO have the biggest sellin british debut album of all time, and What's the Story Morning Glory sold more than Sgt Peppers.

Although the band will never has as much influence as the Beatles did.

Oasis can still produce brilliant tunes. The four that have leaked ****ing rule.

The riff on Mucky Fingers sounds just like a slowed down version of the one on Words of Love by Buddy Holly, which was later covered by The Beatles.

Yeah these tracks are pretty damn good. Some people don't really like Meaning of Soul . (which they performed at glastonbury a year ago), but I think it's a really nice peice of short material. It'll definitely be filler on the album, but what a ****ing excellent filler. Keep the Dream Alive is cool as hell. Let there Be Love is amazing. Mucky Fingers is awesome. It's a huge grower. Some people also have some beef about that one, but it's more of they never heard anything like that from Oasis. It's a nice piece of music. Can't wait till the final album.

However, out of the tracks we heard, we need some more solos like in Oasis' early days.

Hmm I totally disagree with you. Noel does too.

Noel is pissed that Lyla was the single. Sony picked the most Radiofriendly track.
