Lucky UK gamers - Pick Up Your Nintendo DS At Midnight 11th March
Nintendo has announced midnight openings at five Virgin Megastores across the United Kingdom this week to mark the launch of the Nintendo DS on Friday 11th March priced £99.

The Oxford Street branch in London, the 235 Buchanan Street branch in Glasgow, the Pavillion Centre store in Birmingham, the Tops Plaza store in Liverpool and the Queens Street store in Cardiff will all open at midnight to let gamers get hold of the handheld for the first time.

The first through the door at each location will receive a T-shirt indicating theirs is special, while the next fifty will receive an "I was TOUCHED by Nintendo DS" T-shirt. The first fifty at the Oxford Street branch will also receive a special Nintendo DS goody bag, with free games being given out while stocks last.

One lucky attendee will even win an all-expenses-paid trip to Nintendo's headquarters in Japan where they will get to meet Shigeru Miyamoto.

Nintendo DS launches across Europe this Friday with a launch line-up of some 15 titles, headlined by the likes of critically acclaimed Super Mario 64 DS.

Why does the US get the shaft when it comes to prizes from Nintendo?

Ahem. Let me put this in perspective; the Nintendo DS will launch in Europe on Friday! Woo-hoo!

Four months after the US launch.

Damn it! Now I wish I hadn't ordered it online, now I have to wait for it to arrive in the mail, when I could go to Oxford Street T_T. Although ordering it also means there is a possibility that it could arrive a day early... or a day late >.<

Hehe, nice idea, I mighta gone for it down in Oxford St had I not got my VIP pack 4 weeks ago. Be nice to be able to finally pick games off of the shelf - haven't bothered importing, just played Mario 64 DS and the 2 demos, along with a few GBA games.

The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs. -Thomas Jefferson,

From what I've seen so far, Nintendo is actually the only one of the big 3 consoles that actually seems to pay attention to Europe customers. After complaining about Europe releases etc they noticed and got us Zelda: Minish Cap before it hit the US. Too bad that probably won't happen again with a game any time soon Frown

That's a cool thing Nintendo arranged for that one lucky person.

But I count myself lucky that it'll be my birthday next week, and that the week (and a half) after that, the beautiful white DS will be shipped to my house, which will be paid with my birthday money...
I've waited this long, I can wait a few more weeks longer.
