I've never been big on rap. Sure I got into Tupac, Fat Joe, and Snoop when they hit the MTV circuit back when they actually played videos and not just 24/7 of reality shows, but never more than an album or two, and never hardcore like some people. The first time I recall actually hearing rap was that big controversy surrounding NWA back in the day. I think I even vaguely recall staying up late to watch Run DMC on Arsenio Hall, but that could be my mind playing tricks on me. Regardless, rap's just never really been my thing. My mother however has been into it for a ridiculously long time, so I was at least exposed to it from an early age. It just wasn't my cup of Chai.

What I was into was the lyrics of rap songs. The dirty words sent my young and very Catholic self to confession more often than not, mostly because I found them to be so funny. My father even grounded me once (the only time mind you) for singing along to 2 Live Crew's infamous "Me So Horny" song in the car one day while I listened to my Walkman in the back seat. I was just a wee little one, so after that episode they were more than happy when my obsession with New Kids on the Block came along.

Anyway, flash forward to adult me. Still not really a fan with rap, but still loving the lyrics of some of the songs when I do happen across them. So when I came across this site not too long ago, I thought, finally! Someone else appreciates it the way I do except without the guilt and more snide comments. Happy reading!
