Most Wanted - April 2012

Posted April 3rd 2012 by Anthony DiPalma.

Forget the stupid pranks that every girl on Facebook posted claiming they were pregnant, the only fools this April will be the ones who don't check out the games coming out this month. While there aren't exactly a ton of new franchises to jump into, it looks like it's time to dust off that Nintendo Wii and Xbox Kinect for the first time in months. Here are the games you should look into for April!

I bet you guys are asking (or at least I'm going to pretend you're asking) "Wait, didn't The Witcher 2 come out last year?" The answer is yes. Yes it did. This time however, The Witcher 2 will be ported to the Xbox 360 since the original was a PC exclusive. The difference? Besides new controls, the 360 version will feature over 3 hours of additional content and the promise of the same brutal, yet intricate combat system that The Witcher 2 is known for. Open exploration and a beautifully crafted world combined with an amazing story make this a game to look out for.

To be honest, I hadn't even heard of Xenoblade Chronicles until recently. As the resident JRPG nerd here, I feel like it's my duty to suggest that everyone try out Xenoblade Chronicles for a few reasons: 1) It is a Wii exclusive that looks and sounds amazing. How often do you see the words "Wii, exclusive, and amazing" in the same sentence? 2) Monolith Software promises over 100 hours of immersive gameplay across vast landscapes. What better way to survive the summer drought than with what may well be the best Wii exclusive since the system launched?

The fondest memories I have of the Star Wars saga have to do with my father falling asleep piss drunk at the theater when we saw The Phantom Menace together so many years ago. (Just kidding, the best memory I have is watching Empire Strikes Back on a toilet.) Now, parents can relive their childhoods by dancing with Han Solo, Leia, and their children who will hopefully not grow up to be like me at all. Kinect Star Wars looks like it'll be a great way to introduce youngsters to the series everyone knows and loves. Come on, admit it. If you were a kid you would totally dance with Princess Leia.

You know what every city needs? A metric fuck-ton of living tendrils that spread around the buildings and blow shit up. The protagonist of the first Prototype, Alex Mercer, returns, but not as the playable character... Instead, it is up to Sgt. James Heller to destroy the anti-hero and find a way to stop the mutant infection from spreading even further. Chock full of action and diseased monsters that can lift entire vans full of drug addicted soccer-moms, Prototype 2 looks like it should be a fun break from all the typical shooters and sword fighting games we've seen.

And that's it for this month! Did you see any games we might have missed? What are you looking forward to playing this April? Let us know!

Xenoblade Chronicles is on my radar as a day 1 purchase. I am interested in the Witcher 2, and I'd consider it if it released on a console I owned.
