End Boss Month: Day 27 (Rainbow Road, Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64)

Posted June 27th 2005 by Stephanie DeSiena.

RAINBOW ROAD

Super Mario Kart (SNES) & Mario Kart 64 (N64)

I was ordered by what is apparently my boss to do an End Boss tonight at around 10 'o clock. She completely ignored the fact that I have to be up in 8 hours to go into school for my last day, and also that I'm a terrible sleeper and have trouble waking up before noon. So then I sat around and thought...

...and thought...

...and thought some more about which End Boss to do today on this, the 27th day.

Then I got a phone call and chatted away for half an hour, then I finished up a song I was working on, then I talked with my friend on aim for another fifteen, and here I am. I've decided which end boss I wanted to do. After 27 days this party gets a little stale, so I thought I'd serve you up some Rainbow Road goodness. Rainbow Road is known as the final level in every Mario Kart game to date, but I'm only going to feature the Rainbow Roads from Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64 because I've never played Super Circuit and I like to pretend Double Dash!! doesn't exist sometimes.

Both Rainbow Roads were very different in structure. Mario Kart 64 featured a lush course with neon-lighted backgrounds and tons of hills and turns. Super Mario Kart featured the most downright frustrating course in the history of mankind by not giving us any freaking rails. To its merit, it had awesome music and it really got me pumped, much more so than Mk64's more lighthearted approach to the theme.

They were both cool. That's why I featured them tonight.
