"Melee! Pokemon Scramble" Announced

The Japanese Pokemon site has updated with news for a brand new Pokemon game: Melee! Pokemon Scramble.  Releasing for WiiWare this game will be the first Pokemon game to have primarily action as part of its gameplay and will not be turned-based.

According to PokeBeach.com, the gameplay is essentially a battle royale with up to a few dozen Pokemon in the arena all at once, so the multiplayer aspect seems like it's going be very frantic and fun.  The single-player mode involves you starting out as a weaker Pokemon (the website uses Rattata as an example) and working your way up by recruiting more Pokemon from the wild.

This game is set to release for WiiWare on June 16th in Japan.  No word on a release date outside of Japan.  Hit the jump for a video.
