I've always wondered, how awkward would it be if no one showed up to these things? The DJ idly spinning a track, glancing at the nearest entry points with dull interest. The clerks in the store, happy they didn't have a date to blow off in order to be there, but sad for deeper reasons. The host, standing on stage, mic dangling from hand, slight feedback spitting from the speakers... Actually scratch that. Imagine if just two people showed up. That's much worse.
