Jack Thompson Reaching Beyond His Grasp Yet Again
Posted January 4th 2009.

Jack Thompson, the infamous lawyer that attacked video games on nearly all fronts, is making the first steps to reverse a previous ruling made by the Florida Supreme Court that disbarred him for life. Last month, he filed the paperwork to the United States Supreme Court and hopes to practice law and speak out against the Bill of Rights once again.
From GamePolitics.org:
Jack Thompson is hoping that the United States Supreme Court will consider his ap
peal of the Florida Supreme Court ruling that disbarred him for life.
In mid-December the anti-game attorney requested from the U.S. Supreme Court an extension of a Christmas Eve deadline in which to file what is known as a petition for a writ of certiorari.
Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has granted Thompson's request,
meaning that the embattled anti-game violence advocate will have until February 18th to petition for cert with the Supreme Court.
While the extension is a positive development for Thompson, he nonetheless faces an uphill struggle. According to its website, the Supreme Court receives petitions to consider about 10,000 cases per year. Only about 100 of those will be granted a hearing.
Considering that his previous courtroom rantings have been against the First Amendment and a good portion of what America stands for, this will probably go nowhere, and he will remain disbarred. If this ever goes beyond the bureaucratic trash can, something is definitely wrong with the judicial system.
