New Nintendo characters in development

Miyamoto hints something to come in 2008.
In a recent interview with Dean Takahashi of the Mercury News, Shigeru Miyamoto hinted at a possible new franchise or two in development by Nintendo that would be revealed sometime next year.Miyamoto said, "Maybe next year sometime, we may have new characters in the same way we came up with Pikmin when we introduced the GameCube."
Since the inception of Wii, Nintendo has stated new Nintendo franchises would accompany the system, and so far only a couple, like Disaster: Day of Crisis, have been revealed.
