Demo Channel for Wii rumored
Posted March 16th 2007 by John Ondrey.
A Nintendo rep may have spilled the beans.
Allegedly, a Nintendo of Europe representative recently revealed that a demo channel for Wii is on the way. Information and details of the possible new channel were not given.Theoretically, Wii owners could download playable demos (or view trailers) through the new channel. The service would more than likely be free of charge and would give gamers a way to preview upcoming games. Additionally, demos for DS games could also be downloaded and played on the DS.
Stay tuned to N-Philes for any updates.

Make it so you have to have an SD card then. You can get a 1 gig for under $20. Or support USB external hard drives.

Yeah, I'm not saying it's impossible, but the majority of Wii users aren't going to do this. The channel won't be all that successful if it's limited to people who do.

The hot shots golf demo for PS3 is about 240MB and there are others around that size (and thats with HD) I don't doubt that nintendo could get demos ranging from 100MB-250MB that could fit on the internal memory (you could only have one at a time however) I believe it'll be used mostly for DS demos....

What if the demos are streaming demos? It may be possible for some games, although I don't know if Nintendo's servers would be up for it.

This would be extremely awesome if true, but I kinda doubt it. The Wii's built in storage would be pretty limiting when it comes to modern games.
